hi, i have a mother budgie with 7 new babies. i feel that is to many for her to manage. so what do i need in the way of heating so i can take the three biggest ones of her? :D

Is she feeding all of them? If she is managing to feed all 7 babies, then I would leave all her babies with her as they are better off raised with her.

If she is doing a good job with them.Leave them with her.But keep the food up to her.A b reeder I know will foster up 8 chicks to a good feeder pair.He said they do a better job of abig clutch as they are feeding all the time & keep the food up to them. :D

I would leave the chicks with her too. She does have a partner helping to feed the chicks too, doesn't she ? You can also make life easier for her by providing some extra soft food for her and babies needs. A calcium supplement in her water might be of benefit also. If the chicks have reached around 3 weeks od age I also put some millet sprays in the nestbox for the chicks to try as well. I often have parents feeding 7 chicks and they manage well with BOTH parents feeding and extra food being given to the parents by me :D

hi yes she is but last time she had 4 babys and only three left the nest the other died. so this dosnt happen again i would like to give her and the farther some help. this is her second lot.

Last times result may not be the same this time around. They learn as they go along and last time they may have been young and inexperienced. Also there are many reason for a chick to die in the nest and not necessarily due to too many to feed.

Are the chicks currently having plenty of food in their crops ?

Is Dad budgie helping with the feeding ?

Are you giving the parents plenty of fresh food and water ?

Are you supplementing the parents feed ?

How old are the chicks ?

Here is a topic about Care of Baby Budgies in the Nest that may help
