July 2, 200717 yr Author Today I am moving cages around, so i put the young ones that Dad was attacking back in with Mum, who is now on her own. All is good. Pics below The three together once more Independence, Tralia and Kau'i with mum Angel sitcking her head out Angel with her 3 offspring (sorry about the bluriness - i was nervous that Angel would scoot back into the nest box before i had a chance to get this shot)
July 3, 200717 yr Author I would love to say I had a lot to do with it, but it was really all Ozzy and Angel. Angel has 6 eggs now. interesting to see how many are fertile
July 3, 200717 yr As requested, new pics. Here you can see that she has the faintest lines on her head, and she is almost like a creamino, but look at the patches near her legs or dark olive green and the patch on her rump. Now I know that ino's can mask things, but could she mask pied? Could Dad have had pied in him? Thoughts? This little thing is not a lutino. The grey patches around her legs and rump matches the grey one of her siblings has. I would say that she would be a recessive pied. She could be a clearwing too which would explain the absence of wing markings. Look at her eyes, they should be black or plum coloured. Lutinos do not have grey patches. In this picture you can especially see the grey around her rump. I would say she is actually a yellowface type 2 clearwing recessive pied mauve.
July 3, 200717 yr Author Where did you get the idea about me thinking she was a lutino? I never said that. I said that when you look at her, you think creamino, but the patches on her back and near her legs indicate that she is not. I was the one that speculated on her being pied. She is dark eyed, but Mum is an Albino, thus my question was what can an ino, as in her mother who is an albino, hide in her genetics?
July 3, 200717 yr I'm sure someone else thought she was lutino. I know you didn't hence the reason I quoted you saying that. Ha ha, my mistake, sorry. I misread everyone's replies thinking that when they were referring to the Ino they were referring to your baby and not the mum. (Laughing out loud) She is gorgeous anyhow
July 3, 200717 yr Author No probs, thought there was some confusion there. She is a cutie, with quite the bite on her - gets that from her mothers
July 9, 200717 yr Author Well, I had to move the cages into a new aviary, so there was doubt about whether or not Angel would sit back on her eggs. Well, the verdict is in, as demonstrated by all the eggs on the floor of the cage. It is a little sad, but predictable. Sad as Ozzy, who flew away, was the father, but it was always going to be tough, with Angel seeking to raise them on her own. Angel can now focus on getting back up to full strength, so she can return soon to the aviary. Actually, it will be her first time in the big aviary, as she only ever knew the little one. probably for the best.
July 31, 200717 yr Author Well, everyone is now in the aviary, and everything seems to be going well. This is pretty much the last post on this topic, so anymore pics will appear in my aviary update
