Sad is......

finding an 8 year old budgie dead on the floor of the aviary

 

 

.....even sadder is finding his long time partner sitting next to him and nudging him with her head trying to wake him up

 

 

 

who says budgies don't grieve

awe Kaz I am so sorry, who went to Rainbow Bridge?

He was a lovely grey green dominant pied boy Rastus that I had given a retirement home to. His partner Genevieve ( same type and colour ) is very depressed. She has had lots of cuddles today and is in a warm cage. :angel1:

Not sick. He was just old and was a breeder earlier in his life. I haven't bred with him. Just gave him a home to live out his years in. She is fine, but she spent a cold and rainy night's vigil by his side when he fell dead from the perch through the night.

That is very sad, you must get Genevieve a new buddy, Rastus.

Oh that is terrible... I hope she finds another mate.

 

I had the same thing happen to me once but it was the hen who died (she too was an older bird) and the cock wanted more chicks... He paired up again pretty quick. It seems the hens are allot more faithful that the boys.

Genevieve passed away also while I was out working on a building site. She had spent the night by her partners side in the rain.

Awwwe. That is so sad. Poor thing.

Aww, Kaz. Poor Rastus and Genevieve. Maybe she would be happier now that she is with him again. Fly free beautiful budgies - together forever.

The other budgie died of a broken heart (and exposure) this afternoon. They are together in budgie bird heaven now.

Sorry to hear about Genevieve but they are both together now. She definately died of a broken heart. Just like couples sometimes that have been married 50. 60 years plus. One passes and it isn't very long until the other goes either, I have always thought that to be a kind reprieve. :sad: Genevieve.
