Posted January 14, 200718 yr I was with a top show breeder yesterday. He breeds champion show budgies at national level. I bought a couple of young males from him. While we were there he showed me a young grey baby just out of the nest. The mother had attacked it a couple of weeks ago and Dad had continued to raise the baby with Mum budgie separated from them. This chick was out on the floor of one of his main stock aviaries, looking very depressed and lost, not flying, not perching. Eating, but not all that happy. Mum had nearly scalped the baby in the attack. The baby's feathers on its head for the most part are regrowing. After some time taken with this winning show breeder in conversation, he offered me the chick for free as he felt I would have more time to give it and be able to care for it. A very nice gesture on his part I felt. A lovely man. The chick's uncle and father are winners. Who knows what this chick could become given time and care. The breeder thinks its a female, but it is hard to tell. Obviously never will be on the show bench, but in the future maybe breed some champions. Here she/he is and we are looking for names suited to its courage, and champion bloodlines. If anyone can work out the male/female I would be happy. A quick note also. Within the hour this baby at my place, was alert, flying and perching and having a ball in a small aviary where she/he is .....a new life Edited June 11, 200718 yr by **KAZ**
January 14, 200718 yr Oohhhh! The poor little guy!! He (she?) sure looks cute though! Almost like someone ruffled his head and mussed up his hair. *L* Once the feathers grow in fully it will be gorgous! Courageous names..... right now all I'm thinking is Hercules or Gladiator, but those probably aren't suitable. What about simply Courage? Survivor, Strength... ummm I'm not being very creative right now. One thing I like to do when naming animals is go to baby naming websites and sometimes you can search for names that mean a certain thing. Or use words from a different language that mean something. Like what are the words for courage or strength in Japanese for instance.
January 14, 200718 yr he's a gorgeous baby. very nice looking boy for sure. I'm sticking to boy until he turns brown.. hehe
January 14, 200718 yr Author Breeder thought female. I think boy too but its hard to tell when the cere is coloured. The breeder has been breeding since he was 12, so would know more than me I guess Edited January 15, 200718 yr by Bubbles
January 14, 200718 yr oh, he is such a beautiful bird, you can see it came from good lines. Such a little 'pin-head" at the moment. Poor Baby. Feathers. ps. Karen, can you please only put 2 or 3 photos on each line. It was really hard to read as I kept having to slide the page over to the right to read it.

I like the name Hudson for him .. or Xavier meaning "a new house" I like some of the name suggestions made already for this little budgie, but I am waiting to see if it is a definite girl or boy. I like your name Xavier and will keep it if the baby is a boy Thankyou Edited January 15, 200718 yr by Bubbles

April 27, 200718 yr Author Ariane ( named by Bethgemm ) has discovered the Hamster Wheel. Usually Big Vinnie "hogs" the hamster wheel for himself but Ariane thought she would give it a try. before photo after photo The hamster wheel meets Ariane http://media.putfile.com/ariane-is-a-hamster Edited June 11, 200718 yr by **KAZ**
April 27, 200718 yr They are really good ways for runner budgies to keep fit. My Saffy (who is a runner) absolutely loves hers and is on it all the time. She is probably now the fittest budgie of the bunch.
