Hey man! Where in Canada are you? Im in Guelph, Ontario! :D Or are you 'Marlon' off of JB?!?!

I use the black plastic ones found at SuperPet, Petsmart, or any other pet shop... They work great, are fairly cheap ($14.99) and are easy to clean. They also have hooks to attach them to cages, you can picture which side you want the door, and have a plastic veiwing screen as well as a black main screen so the babies don't fall out :D I'd rather have one that opens from the top though (so less material falls out), and i want to try using wooden ones...

Here are pics of my plastic black ones i use:

hey "buddy"!! its me marlon. marlon was not available, even though noones name here is marlon so i made it marlony, thats what my little cousin calls me.

Hi Marlon, I have not come across metal nestboxes, so I have no idea about those. But I don't think it matters what the nestbox is made of, as long as the hen feels comfortable with it and sees it as a safe place to lay eggs. In the wild they use hollows in trees. They would use a shoebox if that is all that was available and they wanted to have a family.

Feathers.

I would think that metal, would lose heat very quickly. Plastic is more hygenic than wood. The hens like to chew the wooden boxes. Wooden boxes, would be the best insulated. :)

After fixing them up I know what is there now (Laughing out loud) I didn't realize we had so much great info at our fingertips :D
