May 14, 200718 yr Sapphy (I feel like we have been friends long enough now ) is a gorgeous hen. Too far away for spartan if you need a home, I am closer. Steel just looks like he thinks he should be allowed to be a kid longer, why should he stand up properly. He can, but he doesn't want to I love them. Feathers. Edited May 14, 200718 yr by feathers
May 18, 200717 yr Author Steel was very sick this morning...he hasnt been eating properly while in the kindie cage with the other chicks. I took him out and crop fed him with handrearing formula and supplemental vitamins and put him in the warm hospital cage. He looked really depressed, so I got his sister and put her in the hospital cage too, and now Steel is acting a lot brighter with her around. She preens him and has fed him also. He got another crop feed tonight before bed and I will see how he is in the morning. His droppings this morning were very watery and loose but by this evening his medicine was working and he was much better.
May 18, 200717 yr Oh my I wonder what happened, good thing you are so attentive to all your birds Kaz here to feeling better Steel
May 18, 200717 yr Author Oh my I wonder what happened, good thing you are so attentive to all your birds Kaz here to feeling better Steel You get the odd baby budgie stops feeding itself and gets depressed, ....you just have to watch closely for signs. Thats why I worked it out this morning and helped him out. Hopefully he will be better tomorrow.
May 19, 200717 yr Author Do you think he likes being with his sister and no one else, just like in the egg? Yes thats true...they both enjoy nothing more than perching together and preening each other. But the sister is a little more independant than Steel is.
May 19, 200717 yr Author she is probably the one that cracked the egg and did all the work I would not be surprised ********************************************************* Steel is looking much better today. He is perched in the hospital cage with his sister and no longer looking fluffed up or shaking with cold. I have figured out he doesnt like it when she goes off and plays with other baby budgies. He likes her close, So once they are out of the hospital cage, I will house them together for awhile till he brightens up.

She'll probably outgrow him and roll her eyes at her annoying brother who follows her everywhere. :(Laughing out loud):

March 6, 200817 yr Sorry to hear about Saphire. Steel is looking good though. Good luck with the breeding will be interesting to see what comes of it :hap: has there been any research done on wether a twin budgie is more likely to produce twins of there own?? Would be interesting to find out. Edited March 6, 200817 yr by JimmyBanks
