Does Harry Thinks The Swing Is His Girlfriend?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Harry is about 3-4 months old and I have notice that he puffs his head up and makes cute little noises when he's by the swing and he also gently rubs his head on the swing. He looks like he loves the swing...

Is that normal? He was also doing that to a toy but I took it away, I was afraid to think that he might be trying to woo the toy? :)

Has anyone's bird done this before?

Thanks

Jo-an

All male birdies, flirt with their toys. It is very natural. Put his toys and swing back in and let him have some fun. :)

If its not his toys or swing, it will be his reflection in the bars of the cage, a food dish or anything else that takes his fancy at the time. Mine have meaningful conversations with tree branches, cage/aviary walls and anything. Its quite funny to watch :)

It is normal as long as he is not being protective or completely obessed like day in and day out. :) You can certainly rearrange his toys frequently during this stage and even give longer hours of darkness to cool down the hormones. Boys will be boys and as long again as he is not being nasty toward you (which can happen during hormonal periods or protecting a toy) he is perfectly normal.

Thanks everyone!! It is fun to watch him with the swing and I will try and put the toy back in (he was nasty and protecting it - biting a lot!!)

Have a great Easter weekend!

yes in that case you may have to leave it out or if you can give it to him during his free time :budgiedance: or reintro at a different time.

Happy Easter

My budgie used his swing as a bed.

When ever the blanket went on he jumped on it.

My sister teased him with this.

:oliveb:

Now he has out grown it and uses it as a toy.
