Im just wondering if this happens to my budgie is it possible to use paraderm plus on them if not i will head to the pet store and get some anticeptic there Well i need to KNow ASAP my tiel has a blood feeather... agian thanks for your help and sorry if i went overboard on my tiel since this is a budgie forum xD Edited March 28, 200718 yr by Daz
March 28, 200718 yr Best thing to stop bleeding is cornstarch, cornflour or flour dusted over the bleeding area. Not sure about paraderm. A lot of people type medicines are harmful to birds, so I wouldnt advise anyhting like that unless I knew for sure. Edited March 28, 200718 yr by Kaz
March 28, 200718 yr Author Ah. Cool that answers my question. But heres a new one. What if i want to get rid of the dried blood (the brown coloured one) cause its stained on the feathers and it looks horrible well do i use water with a cloth or something :hap:
March 28, 200718 yr I wold let the bird clean it itsself you really dont want to aggrevate any other close by blood feathers - bird are very hygenic creatures!
March 28, 200718 yr I would say call the avian vet in your area and ask about the medicine you are describing as no one here should tell you to give them medicine unless avian related or non prescribed. Â As for the wing let it molt out I know it looks horrible but just like a scab if we mess with it, it could restart the bleeding. Â Hope that helps a bit.
March 29, 200718 yr Author yea, i guess they clean them selves but mine smells odd and Yea thanks Elly for that example that really helps alot!
March 29, 200718 yr if your bird smells horrible then something is wrong because birds don't have a smelly order to them maybe the feathery after they get wet but not a distinct oder. So I would think about a vet trip then. Â Unless it is the cage that is stinky but I am sure it is clean and even if it was somewhat dirty it still shouldn't smell like that. Pretty was a dirty bird so to speak he didn't like bathes and he never smelled.
March 30, 200718 yr Author Hmm, well the smell isnt that bad, but its still smelly But this is my Tiel not budgie. Do they usually have this smell for tiels? Edited March 30, 200718 yr by Kaz
March 30, 200718 yr I don't have a tiel you can ask those that do but is it the poos or the bird? See if the bird smells I don't think that is good.
