May 22, 200816 yr Looking good Kaz, but you shouldn’t have wasted your time, you should have put a post in both corners of your backyard [back fence] then two poles up against the house & just covered the whole area, so that you just step out of the back door into the aviary complex…

They would eat a budgie in the blink of an eye ...my dogs are hunters, budgies, birds, mice, rats...anything meaty

June 1, 200816 yr Good luck with everything Kaz, you have been getting some crazy weather over there of late haven't you? Yes....storms and rain yesterday and its all wet today too That's pretty well the same weather that we are getting around south east Queensland at the moment.
June 1, 200816 yr And it's dry as anything in Victoria still.....pity we can't share it all around...lol Forgot to add, hope all goes well on Monday with your building. Edited June 1, 200816 yr by Denise
June 1, 200816 yr it seems like it is wet all over, here in Manitoba it is rainy and wet too......... l'm still unable to get the garden in because of the rain hopefully we will get some sun soon to dry up all the rain
June 2, 200816 yr Author We didnt get finished today as my husbands friend who was helping was only here for half the day. We have completed three walls and erected the four. Have to finish off the front, window and doors, and put on the roof. I had three leadlights to make today as well as being a builders offsider, and nurse....so thats all we could do for today....more tomorrow. To be continued....
June 2, 200816 yr Looking good Kaz, we have been having lots of showers here also & now today the rain has really set in. Has just moved down from Queensland, we were lucky but, it was forecast for Sunday, but it turned out quite a nice day, so got our local show over. Was our first for a few years, only got about 300 birds, not all Budgies. Hoping for better next year. You must be upsetting the local termites Kaz, nothing for them to chew on…LOL.. June 2, 200816 yr That brings back memories.... Just think in a few days/weeks/months it will all be finished.
June 3, 200816 yr Author Looking good Kaz. As Daz said days/weeks/months depending on the weather. :D and whether or not Ken and I have the energy to do more each day. I have just finished a mad run of leadlight work, so I will do some on the birdroom tomorrow.
June 3, 200816 yr It looks great!! You did heaps in one day!! I completely forgot you do lead light too!! What a busy lady you are - I don't know how you fit it alll in !!!
June 3, 200816 yr Author It looks great!! You did heaps in one day!! I completely forgot you do lead light too!! What a busy lady you are - I don't know how you fit it alll in !!! Neither do I I am also nursing my daughter after her spinal surgery and we have numerous doctor appointments to go to as well
June 8, 200816 yr Author More work done today on the new birdroom. Nearly there. The whole roof went on today amongst other things. We have yet to hang the doors at the front, and add the gutters and trim pieces. The far right end will become a set of folding doors that will go out into the aviary ( new flights to be made ) and then another flight off to the right of that. Soon will tile the floor, insulate and line the walls and then fit out the interior. Where's Daz when I need him
June 8, 200816 yr Nice job Kaz , its looking good , makes me want to pull my finger out and get moving on my avairy , maybe this is the motivational tool I need
June 8, 200816 yr Author The dogs helped too. Everytime Kens mate Gary would bend down to pick something up he got a big sloppy kiss from Maggie or Cricket The supervisors... Cricket and Maggie ( left ) and Cricket ( right )
June 8, 200816 yr Author Raining here today... The first thing I did was get the umbrella and go see if the new birdroom leaks. It does. Through what looks like a dodgy nailhole on the roof sheeting...that will need sealing. Leaks under the edges all round, but I havent sealed that yet, so thats fine for now.
