July 27, 200915 yr This is all coming along really well. What is most impressive when this done will be the massive kindy cage you will have left - as int he current aviary. Do you plan to use that or are you going to knock all that down, clean things up, and build ken a beautiful big aviary for his new flock? It seems we will be starting again with all the future aviaries. The old aviaries will look real crappy up against the new structures. Hahah, you can alway's sell them to save up to buy a upgraded version of the aviary... that way it wont look up to **** when compared to the new one

They were built on site and are not ready made metal aviaries. We dont buy ready made aviaries as our needs are for bigger than that. We have to build what we want. this is how the aviaries were when we moved in.........Kens is on the right. Edited July 27, 200915 yr by KAZ

July 27, 200915 yr that is how it was when they moved in. Take a picture now kaz so we can see how things stand at the moment? Then take a picture when it is finished - once the fish pond is gone.

Then take a picture when it is finished - once the fish pond is gone. Currently a demolition site ....we have made a mess trying to get it all done The garden railing in the other photos has been removed and we are taking the garden out to open up the area. Kens aviary on the right ..new birdroom to left New flights being built looking back to the house Edited July 27, 200915 yr by KAZ
July 27, 200915 yr Author i love that you dogs just sit there and watch you - LOL If Ken has to do any work at ground level, the dogs get on top of him and lick him all over
August 5, 200915 yr Author The roof is done, and we are amidst doing the ground in readiness to get a slab laid. Meanwhile I have been doing metalwork with the grinder to tidy up the door entries from birdroom to new flights. Also framing up the windows in readiness for glass and leadlights. The height from floor to ceiling will end up just over 7 feet high or 2.1m. The ground on the right needs some retaining wall foundations built to support the slab on that side. This right hand side needs filling in and levelling after we lay some blockwork or bricks to create a foundation. Edited August 5, 200915 yr by KAZ
August 6, 200915 yr Author Got the price for the slab organised. Most prices came in at over $1500 but one contractor said $1020 so he has the job. Ken has to lay a small retaining wall first, so the slab is about a week or more away.
September 10, 200915 yr Author What news on the slab Kaz? Will we have pics soon? I have been let down by contractors blaming the weather. Since my slab is under cover that excuse wont wash. I sacked the original guy and employed another. He is supposed to be doing it tomorrow morning.
September 10, 200915 yr I have the same problem with a hubby too. Having a disaster while we were away, friends offered to fix up my aviary and weather proof it and re lay the floor.......it is nearly finished and the same friends are going to build me a bigger and better aviary. Kaz may I ask who the contractor is that is putting up your breeding room? As for the breeding room I lost my patience and took over the garage.

It the new flights that we are now getting done. I have the roof and supports up and just need the floor laid. After that I will be able to wall it in and fit it out.
September 11, 200915 yr Kaz, That is great, I have just read right though all the posts. mind you it took me over an hour and that was just scan reading. What an amazing setup, so going by the dates you have being doing this setup for how long? what an awesome job you guys have done, it may be taking you a while but my gosh it is defenetly worth the wait. I love your birds, would love to have a setup like that, sometime in the future maybe I cant wait for more updates!!
September 11, 200915 yr This looks awesome. I am impressed. Once you get the slab done, you really do feel that you are getting somewhere. All systems go now.
