July 12, 200816 yr Sounds great. Its very exciting isnt it, even better when you start putting your cages in there.
July 13, 200816 yr Sorry about the double post but it has been almost 24 hours and no one else has written anything. I am wondering about those pics?
July 13, 200816 yr Author Didnt get the early start today after all. We had to take Kens Dad and his dogs and ours to the park. The old boy gets lonely so we had to spend some time with him. He is 80 and not doing so well these days. So got started after lunchtime. Here is the insulation we have been putting in after sealing all holes and cracks. and in place The wall panelling board ( grey glossy coated ply 2400 by 1200 and $5 sheet ) with joiner strips. The benchtop and sink area. Medicines cabinet yet to go on the wall. Metallic grey tiles to go on the wall around the kitchen area Lots more to do. We have the top half to insulate and cover with sheeting yet, tiling around the sink and benchtop, shelf under the window to paint, security doors to fit to inner entrance, and to the access for future new flights, security screen to window so windows can be open for breezes and no birds can escape through the window and much much more. All takes time, and I have leadlights to make this week so here's hoping I can get some more on the birdroom done in between it all.
July 13, 200816 yr AWSOME Kaz!!! I love it. Your sink area looks great and once it is all tiled... I just can't wait. It takes so long... but the end result will be well worth it I'm sure. Great work!!!
July 13, 200816 yr How fabulous!!! Love the tiles for the kitchen. Â I can not wait until we own our own house and can build a bird room!!!! Your's is so inspiring! Â I've joked to my fiance, that our aviaries and birdroom will be fitted out before our house will be
July 13, 200816 yr Yeah Looks great Kaz!! Â This is for the budgies? Isn't! Â Looks good enough to move into!
July 13, 200816 yr Author Yeah Looks great Kaz!! This is for the budgies? Isn't!  Looks good enough to move into!  YEP But my husband can live in there with the birds if he is in the "doghouse"  Seriously....my old birdroom is so crappy...I just wanted to do it better and cleaner and more streamlined.
July 13, 200816 yr Kaz it looks wonderful, with the amount of birds you have, you are right to invest the way you are with your aviary, it will be super nice & high end but it is healthier in the end for your birds, easier for you and the time and money you are putting in it now you will probably find the cost down the road to be cheaper in medicine & avian vet bills. Good on you!!! I wish I could visit to see this all come together & even when it is done.
July 13, 200816 yr It looks really good and the tiles are a great idea, with the amount of budgies you have it will be easier for you to keep clean.

July 14, 200816 yr Author Kaz looks great only issue is that now I look at it look at mine and think what a dark little cheap hole mine looks like you have given us all a started to aspire to!You have a really good sized space and its going to be fantastic when you are finished. I had a limited area to work with. My main concerns were rodent proof and easier to clean. Light and bright helps too. Kaz looks great only issue is that now I look at it look at mine and think what a dark little cheap hole mine looks like you have given us all a started to aspire to! No i think that when i look at yours AV and then look at mine :PLooks brilliant Kaz! When can I move in???Anytime Liv. I need a bird slave or two It looks really good and the tiles are a great idea, with the amount of budgies you have it will be easier for you to keep clean.I have reduced the amount of budgies lately so I can do all these mods and so I can rebuild with better birds and better bloodlines. I really like the idea of easy to keep clean and a good place to treat birds.Kaz it looks wonderful, with the amount of birds you have, you are right to invest the way you are with your aviary, it will be super nice & high end but it is healthier in the end for your birds, easier for you and the time and money you are putting in it now you will probably find the cost down the road to be cheaper in medicine & avian vet bills. Good on you!!! I wish I could visit to see this all come together & even when it is done. You can visit anytime you can manage a trip to Australia Elly :hap: I also think the birds are worth investing some time and effort into at this stage. I have been making do with what I had, but after the rat incicdents I need to do things better.

July 14, 200816 yr Author My birdroom now has a new heater and fan...... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...N:IT&ih=007 Â ***NOTE**** since putting the insulation in and its only half in so far....the difference between outside temperature and inside temperature is massive now. I did not expect such instant results. After the first night we did some installing of the insulation ( a quarter done ) I noticed dew on the windows outside that has never been there before regardless of temperature....meaning the inside temperature was warmer than outside. Before that it was just as cold inside as outside. And stepping through yesterday morning there was a marked difference in temperature outside to inside. I am pretty impressed so far with the insulation. Edited July 14, 200816 yr by KAZ
July 14, 200816 yr That's a really cool (i mean HOT) heater :hap: Will it dry out the air or is the ceramic part allow the moisture to remain?? hmmmm I am now going to look into insulation for my little shed - will have to see if i will have enough room for it :hap:
