Posted March 9, 200718 yr My wife was acting a bit strange this morning, then she came home about an hour ago with a new budgie for me, i wasnt sure i wanted another but as soon as i saw the budgie my mind was made up!! I still feel the loss of jim but i will do my best to train this new budgie and bond with him which will be no problem. He is a nice shade of grey with a whiteish head, the marking on his wngs are very light grey-brown. His name of course is JIM the second.
March 9, 200718 yr I hope he turns out to be everything you want in a feathered friend. He won't take Jim's place but he will help you heal. Its a lucky budgie that has you for a friend
March 9, 200718 yr Congratulations! That was very sweet of your wife. Can't wait to see photos. Is he a baby?
March 9, 200718 yr Author Yes he's 10 weeks old, im saying he but we wont know yet....i think the budgie is a boy, i will get a piccy up soon.
March 9, 200718 yr awe that is wonderful Adrian and you wife is a gem I can't want to see Jim the Second
March 9, 200718 yr Author okay here he is....Jim2 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v677/welshade/DSC01056.jpg  thats the best picture i could get so far, i have him sitting on my finger so far. Edited March 12, 200718 yr by Bubbles
March 9, 200718 yr What a beautiful soft grey cinnamon opaline budgie. Your wife has good taste in budgies Looks female to me but time will tell. Beautiful photo by the way
March 9, 200718 yr I agree female and I think she is older then 10 weeks but I will let someone else add too. Â What is her personality like?
March 9, 200718 yr Author ahh female, will i encounter any problems. personality wise is fine, watching me a lot.sits on my finger pretty content and does lots of stretching.
March 9, 200718 yr Name suggestion........she at first reminded me of a photo done in SEPIA tones ( the old style photos )....maybe call her SEPIA ?
March 9, 200718 yr She has sooooo beautifull color  I think it's female too, what about Jimie? I have female called Tim (Timie), she's supposed to be male . I have actually more females with male names - Tim, Mig, Joda
March 9, 200718 yr Author yep jimie it is then, she is exploring her cage now, running from perch to perch, going to the floor, climbing to the top, quite mad really. do you think shes just getting used to her new home or is she getting anxious??
March 9, 200718 yr How nice for your wife to do that, Jimie is beautiful! Sure they will be anxious and climb about the first little while getting aquainted with their new home. Have always found my females to be more acrobatic than the males. Edited March 9, 200718 yr by Phoebe
March 9, 200718 yr Author well i in love again!! shes just sat on my finger no problems and started to clean herself, running her beak the full length of her tail feathers which is so cute. dont think its going to take much to tame this one again. do females talk or is it only males?
March 9, 200718 yr males are known to be talkers because they say they pick up faster but females can learn to talk too. Males are more vocal then females so I think that is the reasoning behind it.
March 9, 200718 yr She is just beautiful! I have a friend with a female that talks all the time, she has a huge vocabulary!
March 10, 200718 yr that was very nice of your wife to do that , Jimie is a cute little darling :ausb:
March 10, 200718 yr Author bit of an update, jimie is a wee bit crazy!! she is loving the bottom of her cage, she goesinto the corners and sort of does a small spining motion???shes very happy to sit on my finger and stretch and clean herself which is great. i think im going to have to get some toys for the botom of the cage, any suggestions Edited March 10, 200718 yr by welshman
March 10, 200718 yr I wouldn't get toys for the bottom they get messed on she is probably just exploring her new cage and being silly plus she probably realizes doing that gets her out of the cage . She sounds like a character would love to see more pics
March 10, 200718 yr Author yeah i thought toys would be a mistake on the bottom floor, she is funny, she does a backwards shuffle which had me and the wife laughing, i also put the bath on the cage earlier and she popped straight in!! Jim1 hated the bath!!! I will get some more pics done soon
March 12, 200718 yr I think toys for the bottom of the cage are a great idea - mine love to play football with those little plastic balls with bells in - just make sure they are cleaned regularly!
