Warrior Princess Killed Two...help!

Recently my 2 yr old budgie killed her mate What should I do? Should I replace him after the eggs hatches?

Those birds have already laid 2 batches of eggs for the past 2 years. 4-5 Months ago, when the female laid her eggs, she attempted to kill the male 3 times, so then i have extracted the male from the cage. after 1- 2 Months the chicks are old enough and eating already by themselves so i removed the female breeder and reunited her to the male breeder's cage. Before I transfered the female, i have noticed that the male was rubbing his butt on the cage so i thought that he wants to mate so I reunited both of them. Then I observed them for a month and they were okay. After a few weeks they mated and the female laid 5 eggs and I was very happy and they were still okay. But a few hours ago, they were fighting again, and I have noticed that the female was the aggressor and i have stopped them from fighting. After a few hours, I went to my friends house and came back. Then I have seen the male Severely injured on the head but still breathing. I removed him again and transfered him. but after 2 hours, he died :) - - My post at Yahoo answers last month. Still no good answer

The laid egg was hatched but unfortunately only one have survived. I also found out that the killed male was destroying the eggs and maybe thats the reason why she killed him. ;)

Also She layed eggs again. but this time, i think that those eggs are infertile.

Still my question is not answered... I looked for answers but the only advice given to me was to try pairing it again. Then I tried it few hours ago. BUT!! She tried to kill the male again(killed one).!! I think that she suffered trauma of protecting her eggs. What should I do? By The Way i have removed the infertile egg 12 hrs. before i place the new male i have also tried other male budgie but its the same... HELP!!. TY

Well I am not a breeding expert but reading enough and using common sense DO NOT pair these 2 again together they are obviously not fit for each other. I would remover her from your breeding program. Also she may be stressed she just was finished laying eggs infertile or not which puts stress on their bodies and then you remove her and she is like where did my eggs go and put her with another? Of course she would be protective she just had eggs and now they are gone ;):, they do have a recall :D.

Anyways, that is my advice we shall see what others may say.

Oh and welcome to our forums too :)

Put her in a cage on her own with some good food and quiet time. Allow her to get healthy in both mind and body. Don't breed her again. She is obviously stressed to the MAX.

I know a show breeder who had a hen that had already had a couple of clutches when he bought a new cockbird for several hundreds of dollars. He had taken the hens partner away and removed her chicks and put the new cockbird straight in with her. He turned his back and turned back again and she had killed the very expensive cock. Ripped his head off. This is a sign of a very stressed bird, also an overbred bird.

Give your bird some peace and allow her to regroup. I would retire her from your breeding program. ;)

PLEASE tell me that you have retired this overworked, poor, stressed hen :budgiedance: The ongoing saga for this poor budgie was just heartrenching to read. She needs some R&R, and lots of vitamins and minerals with some good quality seed and LOTS of fresh vegies.. especially dark green leafy vegetables, brocolli, carrots and fresh corn.

If I was her I'd be ripping the heads of my proposed partners too, just to get a little rest. :ausb:

Feathers.

:ausb: Sounds like very sound, common sense advice has been given you. Let the Warrior Princess take a rest or maybe retire her completely. :budgiedance:

I would say that you should retire her completely. Because she tried to do it last time, tried again and succeeded to kill. She will do it again.
