Posted February 11, 200718 yr Hi, which mutation is this budgie....it is yellow, green and grey :hoh: http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/8060/stranort0.jpg **edited photo due to size** Rainbow Edited February 11, 200718 yr by Rainbow
February 11, 200718 yr It is not a very clear picture but would I would say would be a yellow face type 2 possible greywing dominant pied. The greywing if the marking on the wings are grey vs black like a normal budgie. or he could be green/yellow but again the picture is not very clear
February 11, 200718 yr Wow. He is quite a confusing budgie. He is definately some form o dominant pied. Edited February 14, 200718 yr by Sailorwolf
February 20, 200718 yr did we sort anything out on this bird? It had me thinking again today (Laughing out loud)!! Green & yellow = normal yellow series bird + grey (blue series??) hhmmm this bird is confused!! the wing markings look to be black still. Dominant pied...... halfsider??
February 20, 200718 yr Or maybe it's a new mutation. ooooh. Perhaps also it is a DF yellow face, where the yellow goes all mottley???
February 20, 200718 yr Seems to be a dominant pied to me. The wing markings if you look closely only have the black markings on the top end then it goes back to yellow. Dom pied spot, and the band across the chest. The photo is too unclear and fuzzy to be certain of its exact colour. It's young and hasnt moulted into a stronger colour yet and a lot of budgies look different looking from the front or underside instead of a better photo side on or seeing its back. Being that its young and we are seeing its first lot of feathers "settling in" and an unclear photo....I think time will tell with this one. Edited February 20, 200718 yr by Bubbles
February 20, 200718 yr Yep I asked for a better picture when I posted first pie he is a beauty and I stick with my answer until I get a better picture if you can please
February 21, 200718 yr okay going against most of you here and stating that he can't be a yellowface 2. why? the colour under the wing is green and yellow, if this bird was a yellowface the colouring would be blue and white. As the blue remains true under the wings.
February 21, 200718 yr I agree with Nerwen. But I don't see any grey? Only yellow and green. The grayish color on his chest looks like down feathers to me, like he was plucked and the feathers are re-growing. Same thing with the forehead. He is a baby, and I would say dominant pied.
February 23, 200718 yr Yes it is a confusing picture but the yellow and green are the strongest under the wings where as in a yellow face it should have the most blue/grey. The colour showing on the chest could be reflection from the aviary. I would love a better picture. Edited February 23, 200718 yr by Nerwen
February 24, 200718 yr Wouldn't the white on his chest indicate a yellowfacec type 2? I don't see any white on the chest...it looks to me like grey down with the beginnings of yellow feathers in the band area. Right below the chin it almost looks like you can see skin. I see the grey area under the tail too, and this also looks like down growing back in. If you look at where the leg meets the body, the feathers are not long there like usual...they look gone with fuzzy grey down in their place. It could be my eyes and monitor, but that is what it looks like to me. Those feathers do not look like fully formed feathers.
