Bird Shows And Gatherings Across Uk Cancelled

Featured Replies

wow, that sounds scary, probably better to be safe than sorry though.

The latest epidemic of bird flu in the Uk was found in Norfolk at one of the UK's biggest poultry suppliers. They believe that the flu came from Hungary in some imported chickens. There is a scare that it may have already got into the food chain supply. I have not heard anything about any other birds being infected. Lets hope this is going to be an isolated incident.

Funnily enough I went to our local Petsmart yesterday and it was eerily quiet as they had no birds at all. I asked an assistant why and they said they were no longer selling birds (rather strange). It didnt occur to me at the time that it may be down to this current scare.

Lets hope its soon cleared up.

I know I was due to purchase a Rainbow budgie at a sale this weekend and now it wont take place until this time next year :(

That's a shame, but I suppose it's better safe than sorry. I'm just wondering what the store actually did with all the birds they had. :)

Yeah I was due to attend a table top bird sale , was hoping to pick up some hens , really short atm , then I read the news it was stopped until further notice :D

fairs and sales are once again allowed to take place under a general licence the only area that still has restrictions is the area around the farm what ever seclusion zone was set up there
