Posted February 9, 200718 yr I have just heard that there is a ban across the U.K. for all bird events, shows etc due to bird flu risks. Anyone over there know any more they can share ? February 11, 200718 yr The latest epidemic of bird flu in the Uk was found in Norfolk at one of the UK's biggest poultry suppliers. They believe that the flu came from Hungary in some imported chickens. There is a scare that it may have already got into the food chain supply. I have not heard anything about any other birds being infected. Lets hope this is going to be an isolated incident. Funnily enough I went to our local Petsmart yesterday and it was eerily quiet as they had no birds at all. I asked an assistant why and they said they were no longer selling birds (rather strange). It didnt occur to me at the time that it may be down to this current scare. Lets hope its soon cleared up.
February 16, 200718 yr I know I was due to purchase a Rainbow budgie at a sale this weekend and now it wont take place until this time next year
February 17, 200718 yr That's a shame, but I suppose it's better safe than sorry. I'm just wondering what the store actually did with all the birds they had.
