Nesting Material

Before any eggs were laid i put a decent amount of wood shavings in the nest box for Akala and Spongebob. There's still alot in there but they're bunched up to one side and not under the chicks. I want to add a bit more, so it's cleaner and under the chicks but should i wait till after all the eggs are hatched? Will it upset Akala at all?

The same thing happened to me with Blossom and Bart, I waited until all the eggs hatched and then placed the wood shavings under bubs, and parents left the shavings, which I replaced regularly. Hope this helps. :D

Thanks!! In the past i've not used nesting material so i wasn't sure. :D

I've done it hile she had eggs as well as chicks. But the chicks were about a week old and the eggs were duds. But she didn;t seem bothered by it and still incubated the eggs. Infact she hatched a foster chick today. Unfortunately it died though. :(

I add more shavings when the chicks are about a week old roughly. The hen doesn't usually get too worried about nesting material once chicks arrive :(

I can't remember when I added some more. I think i added a handful while there was still eggs.

Last time Tootie didn't remove a lot of it and Ringo only had two babies to hatch.
