Bizarre Colour?

Spotted this little girl in the petstore and decided to bring her home because of her different, but extremely attractive colour.

She appears to be a normal Cinnamon Blue Pied with alot of white but then I saw her rump! Its a gorgeous pastel/brown/purple colour! To begin with I though she was a Reccessive Pied boy due to her extreme white but closer examination has revealed one silver iris, so a dominant pied!! Yay! But her base colour has still got me stuck....

So what do you think she is?? :P

Gorgeous! I think she is a mauve, double factor dominant pied, full body colour greywing.

Because she has one iris ring she is a DF dom pied. :P

In person she appears more cinnamon than grey.. so maybe a cinnamon mauve df dominant pied? Also she shows a purple sheen over her rump - like a violet.. so maybe shes got that too?? x)

She is a really pretty bird!!! I definately think she is cinnamon, and I agree with DF dom pied and violet colouring, I'm very jealous :P !!!!!

I'm glad I managed to snatch her up :D

I think when she is considerably older I will try pairing her up with a Sky Blue Normal to see what comes out...

She is very pretty congrats :D

If you pair her with a normal you will get 100% single factor dominant pieds and then any surprised with recessive genes. All babies will be blue.

it would be great if we could find out what mutation her parents were. i love the pretty brown on her and i have one just like her and she is a great breeder. goodluck.

Sco-tie

It would be great if we could find out what mutation her parents were.

Unfortunatey cause she comes from a petstore (chain) I don't think that will be possible... I will call the petstore today and see if they have any info on the breeder or parents of this bird :)

She's pretty -- I wonder what happens when a grey bird has a violet factor -- I would imagine a color close to mauve.

being that mauve is just 2 dark factors would it not make the bird slate or a very dark grey in a blue bird Hurdy?

She is beautiful- mauve DF Dom pied. You can't determine dominant pieds and DF Dom pieds from Iris rings though. Some have two and some have one. Both of my DF's have both iris rings.

If paired with the right male to bring out the colours she would have pretty little'uns

I'm thinking about pairing her with a Skyblue Spangle (appears to be violetish too - got that same sheen..) I just have to persuade my boss to sell him to me :P
