Does thunder kill chicks in the egg or is it a old wives tale??

Oh I would think that would be an old wives tale, but lets see what others think.

That would be an old wives' tale

It would have to be an old wives tale, but if you think about it....thunder might scare a hen off a nest or cause the hen to scurry about in the box and addle her eggs. Thus creating a situation where the eggs don't hatch....i.e dead in shell chicks. Maybe thats where the original "old wives tale" comes from

Thanks to Lovey, one of our members, she has found a story about thunder affecting birds breeding which gives credibility to what we perceived as an old wives tale.
