Congratulations on the baby :D If you add some nesting materials once the babies arrive, the mothers dont usually worry about removing it at this point as they are pre occupied with the hatching babies. Eggs that get kicked around can get addled and not hatch. Also nesting materials helps keep the nest warm and stop babies from becoming splay legged.

Congratulations!! I can't wait to see more photos as they all hatch and grow :D

String is really dangerous to have in a nest, I would try toilet papare or paper twoels liek I did if you don't have shavings for now. The string could wrap around a babies neck and it can be strangled...be careful.

Your babies are about the same ages as mine, our first ones both hatched on the same day haha! Wouldn't it be funny if they turned out to be both Green Normals! :) :(Laughing out loud): :(Laughing out loud): TWINS

I agree that the string shouldn't be in there, many others have had no issues with paper towels in the nest box.

Why have you left the string in there?

i took them out but the female put them back int here

I would remove the string completely from anywhere in the nest or out of the nest. You have been given good advice. Try adding a one inch bed of some wood shavings to the nest now that there are babies as the mother should, at this point leave the nesting materials alone. You may well end up with chicks with splay legs if the floor of your nestbox remains flat.

By the looks of those plum eyes, you might have recessive pieds or cinnamons. Depends what the parents carry. :)

I'm thinking cinnamon, the pins on the eldest chick don't look very dark. :)

not at this stage, need some more fluff and pins. But I'm thinking cinnamon might be possible for the oldest as well.

Gorgeous babies you have there. How exciting that the oldest might be cinammon. I think they are so pretty. How many days old is the oldest chick?
