Any Advice For A Newbie?

I have just gotten a new baby budgie boy, about 4 months old, and i got him about 4-5 weeks ago. He does not fly around when i enter the cage wich is good and he has always done this and when i put my finger near him he mostly goes up but sometimes i have 2 push against him. I would like to know how to tame him, teach him to site on me, and come when i call him. I have read ways but it is not as easy as that as i have tried. any help would be appreciated. :):)

You ahould try enticing him on to your hand with millet. :)

Go to Terri's site www.budgietalk.com It has some very good information

taming takes time and it sounds like your doing well. pushing on his belly to step up is the right thing to do.

Use millet like sailor stated, most budgie will do almost anything for a bit of that.

Welcome taming does take time and each bird is different. When I first read these boards I would see some really tame birds and think why isn't mine like that but then I realized because it wasn't that bird :).

When I got Pretty I spent the first week just talking to him through the cage before I even tried any type of taming with my hand. Then I worked on the step up command within the cage.

Don't be anxious to get him out of the cage unless you see that he is doing great for you in the cage first. Allot of times people get them out first and then they fly or attempt if they are clipped and actually get more scared.

Congrats and welcome :D
