Posted January 8, 200718 yr well I had another thread but I decided to put it here now that I know what they are. They are doing good but the female isn't letting him mate with her, from what I have seen. He mated her side this morning and she threw him off. Not good but eventually I think she will raise her tail. They are spending time in the nest box so eggs should be here soon hopefully fertile I hope (Laughing out loud) Here they are, see she is in the nest looking out because of the flash (Laughing out loud)!: Here is the male: You guys...Im running out of names (Laughing out loud) can some one give me a few names for them Edited January 19, 200718 yr by Bubbles

January 15, 200718 yr Congrats on the first egg. Mum will probably start to incubate after the 2nd or 3rd egg.
January 15, 200718 yr Congrats I like these 2 names that Kirby put out there for you to chose from Zorro and Sophie.
January 16, 200718 yr Author Should get another egg tommorow, but she has started to sit on it. I have seen her in total for about 2 hours today.
January 19, 200718 yr Author They are only going to have one egg it looks like...3 days...no egg.... :fear  Should I just throw it out? Whats the point of raising one egg. Its probably infertile...this is thier first time. Im selling this pair. I never had a pair do this on me before!
January 19, 200718 yr Joey can I surgest that you should read this topic if you havn't already done so....Having a Plan Breeding is not an over night success. You must know and understand your birds. This takes time. The book says that the hen lays eggs every other day... "In most cases" I have had birds miss a few days. Just because the hen has only laid 1 egg doesn't mean it may not be fertile. You should wait and see. Edited January 19, 200718 yr by Daz
January 19, 200718 yr Yes I would wait until the egg is around day 5 and candle it, then you will know if it is fertile or not. Also removed of eggs will restart the hen faster into her cycle and you might have better success with a clutch the 2nd time. (still check this egg first.)

Its probably infertile...this is thier first time. Im selling this pair. I never had a pair do this on me before! Knee jerk reaction Joey. I would not sell the pair just because they didnt get it right from the first egg. Give them a chance. How would you like it if your Mum and Dad gave you up cos you didnt do your chores ?
January 20, 200718 yr Author (Laughing out loud) I will admit to that now...I'm sorry but my parents don't make me or my brothers do any chores. We do what we want and eat when we want (Laughing out loud)...no times. WERE FREE!!! (Laughing out loud) My pets are my chores and school...This guy wanted them for a cockatiel I think she has a tumor anyways though... so my other pair is going to nest the spangles mated. Ill mark this one egg and give it under the spangle pair and sell this pair. I never had a pair do this!My first hen (first time) layed 9 EGGS!
January 20, 200718 yr I think you should give them another chance. Some birds take time and experience to get things right. And they could also do well paired with different birds.
January 20, 200718 yr For some reason, I assume a good one, you decided to pair these two, yet barely weeks later you now plan to sell them? It just doesn't make any sense to me. Feathers.
January 20, 200718 yr This guy wanted them for a cockatiel I think she has a tumor anyways though... Joey what does that statement mean exactly?
January 20, 200718 yr I can't beleive im hearing this from you Joey!! :D Why would you sell them becuase they didnt produce on their first batch?!?!?! MANY, if not ALL pairs have troubles, and arent perfect on their first round. Sounds lame to me to sell them becuase they are first timers Give them a few times, then make a desicion please!!! I also am VERY confused by the statement lovey posted... please explain! Are you talking about selling Juliet (the pearl tiel hen you have) i remember you told me yours selling her, and if shes got tumors what a nasty thing to do!!! :D And re-think selling such a gorgeous first timer pair...everyone needs a second chance, and who knows! Maybe this pair will lay your 9 fertile eggs next time. Kirby Edited January 20, 200718 yr by Kirby
