Chewing Up The Nest Box!

Featured Replies

Hello,

Just wanted to know if it is normal for a hen to really chew apart the bottom concave inside the nest box.

My dominant pied blue and white hen has really rearranged things inside there. There are bits of wood all over the place. She also runs back and forth on the inside of the box. She is making very funny noises and when the male hears her, he immediately flies up to the box to check her out. Is she trying to get him in the mood? He has been a little disinterested in her lately? I think that she is getting frustrated!!!

Thanks,

Eric

Females love to chew up the nestbox. This is their way of making it theirs.

The female will usually make little high pitched chirping tones like a chick. Those are breeding noises. :) That's what my budgies did.
