ive always had some sort of birds all my life,, as a teenager i had an avairy full of budgies and they just did their thing and had babies, i realise now , there is more to it ,and would love to learn all about them in more detail.

i was wondering if you guys could tell me and explain more the colours of my new little additions, ive searched the net but cant find exactly what im looking for to describe the colours.. 1 in particular i have never seen a budgie this colour.. he is yellow with black or very dark olive green on his chest, markings. i hope these pics are clear enough for you to see, ill try explian more...if needed... thanks so much in anticipation, i look forward to your comments and learning more,,

The male you are asking after is a dominant pied. He seems to be a yellowface/ olive variety but others who are better at genetics will come along and tell you his exact description.

Welcome to our forum

Cheers Karen

Welcome Aboard :) I agree Karen do you think though he may be opaline too? Olive Opaline Dominant Pied

thanks so much guys,, and what about the others????, and the lutino, am i right with that description. as i said a lot to learn,, gotta start somewhere right..?

does the yellow one have red eyes if so yes lutino

I put your pics back to links because they are too big they need to be 450x450 :) in size.

thanks lovey, i dont know what i did there,, strange on another forum im on ( a doggy one :) ) when u select forum or message board size they come out fine.????

okay with the lutino , is it right that lutino males have pinkish ceres.. if so, that means i have 3 females and 1 male???, these birds were given to me as a rehome, sort of rescue mission, i didnt buy them and the person didnt know much about them. so here i am trying to learn about them...(Laughing out loud) and what colours exactly they are.... also ther light green has grey markings on wings back etc,, what is that colour description called... thank you so much for all your help..

Re your photos. If you go back into photobucket and select the edit photo feature. choose the "website, email" size and it will be right for this forum. Then you can repost your photos and they will appear here correct size.

Cheers Karen

yes lutino males have nice smooth pink ceres while the hens have whitish pink or tan ceres with red eys.

ahh okay,, so ill go back and look more closely..(Laughing out loud) it might not be smooth pink, but more like hen whitish pink.. she seems to be paired up with the olive opaline , who is obviously male. so would that make sence???

what about the lighter green with light grey markings over him, what would he be classed as.?

I can't see the back of the one you are talking about but if it has grey marking and a bright body which they all look like they do it would be a full body grey wing

thanks so much lovey

Hi rexy, welcome! You have beautiful budgies.

Sailorwolf, I love that site you linked, I used it a lot when I was researching mutations. The blackface, anthracite and halfsiders are amazing.

okay. I will try and help you with photobucket. You select your photo and click on the edit button above the photo. When the photo comes up click on resize photo. Then click on Website, email size and okay. Then your photo is a size that works on here. When you see your photo on here, they always look too big but if you did the photobucket thing right, they should be the right size. Good luck. Karen
