Posted October 21, 200420 yr hay just found my old hamster wheel washed it and put it into skys cage. 2 hours later and he spinnin round in it. why cant it b this to get him to introduce him to vegtables. :(Laughing out loud): try it he chooseing it over his bell now. ATD
October 21, 200420 yr Hahaha, glad to hear he took to it right away! Maybe try (if it's possible) attaching vegetables on or near your wheel. You never know, it could be the location that he doesn't like!
October 21, 200420 yr i will try but he is a real fuss pot. but i would not have him any other way (Laughing out loud). ATD
October 21, 200420 yr Their personality makes them even more special. It would be nice if he did take to veggies. Have you tried broccoli? My birds like it because they pick at the buds (I think it's fun for them)...They don't like carrots, but they seem to like anything green.
October 22, 200420 yr i have tried broccoli and carrots. he just chucked the carrots out of the bowl and with the brocolli he pulled at the stem. will keep trying though
November 2, 200420 yr oh celery, i never thought of that...and its quite inexpensive. :bluebudgie: Thanks for the idea budgieBite.
January 10, 200520 yr Actually, I was recently told by the vet that celery contains as much water as celery so celery = no...seems to give them diarrhoea.
January 11, 200520 yr i think it also depends on your bird as well, its just like us not being able to eat certain foods. maybe as a whole the majority of bird get some degree of diarrhoea, but for a handful they arent affected. ATD
January 12, 200520 yr Does he still play with the wheel. I feed mine chopped up Bock choy or endives,( inexpensive for the amount you get in a bunck) and i think they would kill for parsley
January 12, 200520 yr :(Laughing out loud): Mine love broccoli and lettuce, they pick at the bud also and with the lettuce they sometimes fall and do a roll because of the bends and they pick at the sides
January 12, 200520 yr Does he still play with the wheel. yes he slides down between the wheel and the cage then grabs ahold of the bottom with his beak ATD
January 27, 200520 yr oh celery, i never thought of that...and its quite inexpensive. Thanks for the idea budgieBite. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i second that
March 24, 200520 yr Blinkie's favourite vegetable is celery leaves! He also enjoys picking at brocolli buds but not as much as the celery.
March 24, 200520 yr Candy, Patty and Georgy all love spinach the eat tonnes of it - will be all looking like popeye soon . Give it a go Im sure they will like it.
March 25, 200520 yr I hate spinach!!!! I supose Blinkie will just have to miss out on that particular "vegetable"
October 18, 200519 yr to feed my budgie vegetables i just hang them above the branches and he chews on them there
October 18, 200519 yr My Winkie had been fed on corn and silverbeet when I got her. She came home yellow faced from the corn, and I got given a little 'birdie bag' of silver beet for my birds. This breeder is a sweetie. Well, Winkie has never eaten silverbeet or corn since she's got here! Just refuses to touch it!
October 18, 200519 yr Celery contains hardly any nutrients no matter what budgie or person is eating it Make sure that if you put a hamster wheel in the cage that it is one of the solid ones.
October 19, 200519 yr No matter how hard I try, I just cant seem to get the image of a Budgie stuck in a hamster wheel out of my head
