Let The Breeding Begin!

These two budgies are such brats! After having Isis go into the nest box for over three weeks and do nothing I decided that this weekend I would remove the nest box and leave their breeding till later. Then as I walked through the door into my bedroom. Arkady and Isis were having a very fun time mating. I hadn't seen them do this in this breeding set up beforehand. So I have decided to leave the nest box in for another 10 or 11 days and see what happens, After that i will remove it.

sometime it just takes patience :D (Laughing out loud) keep us updated :ausb:

Oh goodness, well it has taken them long enough to work out what they were meant to be doing :P Good luck.

I have decided that our bird children are just like our human children. Whether they are little or all grown they are still determined to go their own way!

Isis has laid 4 eggs in total and it looks like she is stopping there. I have a picture, but I'm haing a few issues with connectivity at the moment, so they may take awhile.

Whippeeee! :)

By this point, you will be able to candle the first 3!!! :D Or i guess might as well do all of them as you didn't mark the eggs with a washable childrens marker... Good luck! They are gorgeous, and i love the nest box! :( My one pair has 3 eggs now, and their 4th tomrrow!!! :D 2nd egg is fertile! 1st isnt, and 3rd is to early to tell! So our babies, as well as Bea's will all be close to together! How fun! (Laughing out loud)

The first baby hatched today, exactly 18 days after the first one was laid. It is quite big, mind you it was in a big egg :P.

I would get some photos, but I'm still having a few connectivity issues, meaning I have to go through someone else's computer. :(

Baby number 2 arrived today. Funny thing is baby 1 only arrived yesterday. :D I didn't check on the 17th day, as I figured the baby wouldn't hatch that early. Is it possible that they can hatch 1 day after the other? I guess it depends on when she started incubating them. hmm

They are healthy looking babies with full crops. :D

Congratulations Sailorwolf. Can't wait to see those photo's!

Good luck to the babies! Are you going to add shavings to the box as they start to grow?

YAY!!! :P:) :)

Yes its normal. I had a baby hatch at 16 days when i bred 6 years ago :) Some are early risers! They do it becuase it means they were kept very warm, and grew faster than the suggested, o averahe time of 18 days  Best of luck!!! We NEED PICCIES!!!! My first egg will hatch on Feb 4th, so a few days to go yet  (Laughing out loud)

Kirby :D
