Posted October 29, 200618 yr I have just found out that Trill Budgie food is made by Pedigree Master foods and they are big on animal testing...can anyone recommend another budgie food to feed my lot on, I am in the UK. Thanks This is the info I have found..... http://www.uncaged.co.uk/petfood.htm The majority of pet food brands available in the UK are produced by two animal testing companies - "Nestlé Purina/Friskies" and "Pedigree, Masterfoods (Mars Inc)." Nestlé Purina/Friskies: Alpo, Bonio, Felix, Go Cat, Gourmet, Omega Complete, Proplan, Spillers, Vital Balance, Winalot. Pedigree, Masterfoods (Mars Inc): Bounce, Cesar, Chappie, Frolic, James Wellbeloved, Katkins, Kitekat, Pal, Pedigree Chum, Royal Canin, Sheba, Techni-cal (US & Canada), Whiskas. Pedigree also manufacture Thomas rabbit food and Trill bird food. NB Techni-Cal (Europe) although not owned by Pedigree, Masterfoods (Mars Inc) is still a company to boycott as they have not signed up to the BUAV No Animal Testing Standard.
October 29, 200618 yr If you have some sort of health food store that sells seeds/grains/etc. you can make your own mix. There are quite a few recipes you can look up on the internet and they tend to be MUCH healthier than Trill or other commercial seed mixes. As for commercial seed mixes, I'm not sure what is available to you in the UK. I know when I was there last year, Trill was easy to find but I didn't see anything else. It's a shame as I'm going to have this problem when I move over in several months. You may want to search online and order that way. There's usually a lot more variety in online stores and even here, I have to get some things that way as they aren't carried in our stores.
October 31, 200618 yr Author I noticed that the Budgie society sell it but I thought you had to be a member to buy from them...is this true?
October 31, 200618 yr your local rep bs rep should sell it you are supposed to be in the bs to buy from them but some will sell you some but i cant promise you they will your local seed merchant will definatly be able to get you some i know my seed merchant gets his and sells it at £10 for a sack its not the same as the bs mix but bucktons do about 10 different mixs
October 31, 200618 yr Author I don't suppose Bucktons will sell to just anyone would they..or do you have to be a retailer?
November 6, 200618 yr Is Hagen brand available in your area? There are a few other brands, check the internet. You could also buy online.
November 7, 200618 yr I've used Hagen before, I'm not a nutritional expert, but it seemed fine. But I didn't just feed them the Hagen food, I offered veggies, egg mashes etc etc.
