Posted October 11, 200618 yr So Shawna you brought up the question about ceres. I scratch my head at time. Now remember this is with fill-in flash both times. Girl? Boy? or what? it is a very deep blue but those nasal rings.. Now check out Pretty's cere Edited October 11, 200618 yr by lovey
October 11, 200618 yr Well Merlin must be a boy. There is no mistaking that gorgeous blue cere. But Pretty???? These recessives have me stumped!!!!
October 11, 200618 yr The thing about nasal rings is that boys *do* have them but they're lighter blue than the rest of the cere. Females have white nasal rings (as babies at least). Baby boy budgies can also have rings but at that age they're normally a very very very light blue so it gets confusing. Edited October 11, 200618 yr by eterri
October 11, 200618 yr Are you figuring out if Pretty is male or female? If so I hope you get it answered . I have a what I think a male recessive, but I am not sure now. His cere looks like Pretty's cere almost
October 12, 200618 yr Oh haha im sorry, I thought that you were questioning if Pretty was male or female :hap:
October 12, 200618 yr Author yes and no because of Shawna's post don't apologize you had it right, I was just saying they have said along boy but I wonder too sometimes :hap: He looks huge in that picture too but he is not overweight by any means - camera really does put on 10lbs
October 12, 200618 yr Oh okay thank you :hap:. Yeah I am getting really confused with my two, the one I think is female acts male and the male acts female :hap:!
October 12, 200618 yr They are both boys. Nasal rings don't necessarily mean girl. before I came to this site I never used nasal rings to sex budgies, I don't find them very reliable. One thing that greatly helps is that males always have smooth ceres whereas females have crinkled ones.
