No Cheeky, I can't give this to my birds. So we are safe.

 YAYYYY... Glad you are starting to feel better Karen :hap: Make sure you get heaps of rest to recover sooner..

Thanks Una....I'm off to the docs for a blood test now and have a slight fever back again but the tablets taken today should knock that on the head. Cheers Karen

Let us know how it goes, Karen

 Five vials of blood for test and a urine test........what fun !! :hap: I have a slight fever, but I miss my budgies and I am going to do a walk thru the aviaries and check on them all. The vet says there is no way I can give psittacosis to my budgies if I have it.....it is a bird to bird thing to do with contact with dry faeces or inhaling the dust from that. Ciaras baby raised by Angel and Radar is ready to fledge today too. Will try and take some photos. Just bought some lovely chinese vegies and baby spinach for the birds. :hap:

The "breeding aid" ? :P I could use some of that Daz (or at least Ken could) :P

Wow I only just read this topic now. Sorry to hear about everything. :(.

But it's good to hear you are feeling better and that all your budgies are okay. Poor Ken.

Idea: Maybe you could put some of that green mesh material over your avairies. Could stop wild bird poo coming through. And you could suspend it just above the avairy roof, so that if there is poop or wild birds on it, your budgies and other birds can't touch it. :P

Yes....thats the plan for the weekend....this or the next ....we have some clear polycarbonate sheeting like corrugated iron, but clear plastic like stuff. Thats going up on my avairies in most places and shadecloth in others. Have to wait till I can get up on the avairy roof (when my head stops swimming from temperatures) as Ken is too heavy to get up there and work safely.

I was talking to a lady in England ( an ebay associate ) and she had psittacosis as a five year old. She had a tame budgie that died from it and she used to sit with the budgie who liked to "pick her teeth" :(

Thanks. I am having to use an asthma puffer (Kens) a couple of times a day right now too.

CARRY on with all the work you have to do in the aviary and not OVERDO the work part. It's a a serious concern and you should be limiting your activities now and resting.

Thanks Phoebe.....just got back from the docs with blood test results showing abnormal result due to psittacosis infection. Further to be confirmed when results come back from throat swab in 2 plus more weeks. Still feeling "slightly warm" from temp, but the breathing problem is much better. Thankyou for your concern :P Cheers karen

:D That's good you are feeling better and the test results are coming through so everybody knows what medications are required to treat and eradicate your condition. :)

Yeah....same as the birds :P:( I get the same medicine as the birds do except mine comes in pills.

:) And, without a doubt, you are a whole lot better taking your prescribed meds than the birds! :D:
