Why is my 3 month old budgie eating his poo?

I'm not sure why they do it. Changing the paper on the floor of the cage daily will keep the amount of poo in his cage and hopefully reduce the amount he's eating. Is he just chewing or actually eating?

Or is he cleaning house? My budgies pick off any poo that gets stuck on the cage bars and throw it away.

That's what mine do, they keep everything nice and tidy. One time Arkady made a little poo pile of all the poo's he had collected and tidied into the corner.

Oscar does exactly the same thing! i don't think he eats it i think he just crumbles it. yuck!

Yup, all mine crumble all the poos as well... eewweee....

Yuck to us but just natural to them.

Is that what they call 'fast food'
