Posted June 8, 200619 yr hi all, just wondering what outcomes i would get from a dark violet male budgie to a albino with a hint af blue
June 8, 200619 yr I was asking about the eyes as you had said the albino had a hint of blue. Which if it had dark eyes would make it a dark eyed clear budgie. Which it isnt. I will leave it up to cleverer people with genetics to work out the rest for you. Cheers Karen
June 8, 200619 yr albinos come from a blue bird so it is normal to see the hue, I remember Nerwen telling me this. As for the outcome I have to work it out myself on my paper will be back
June 8, 200619 yr okay, here is what I get (I am still learning these genes so I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong) The ino "albino" gene is sex linked All your males will be split for the ino gene but will not express the gene All your females will be normal Unless your male is carrying the ino gene too 25% Male split for ino 25% Male ino 25% Female normal 25% Female ino As for the Violet Gene there is single factor and double factor Violets If you have a single factor bird 50% single factor violet 50% normals If you have a double factor 100% single factor violets
June 10, 200619 yr It is hard to tell when you breed with an ino, because the ino phenotype masks all the other traits. So basically... you could get any thing. But no inos. (Laughing out loud) Until the next generation. Oh and half or all of your babies will have the violet gene. And you will have no green budgies.
