June 6, 200618 yr What sex and age are the budgies and how big is the cage. Also the new budgies can't go straight in the same cage as your exisitng pair as they need at least 30 days quarantine separately Edited June 6, 200618 yr by budgiebird

June 6, 200618 yr Okey well right now my male is 1 year and my female is about 7 months and the new budgies i would want to purchase are bout 5 months. and the cage is very decent size is good for 5 cockatiels The two budgies you have shouldn't have a nesting box anyway as they are too young. Take the nesting box out and quarantine your new budgies in another cage. One cage for both if they come from the same breeder, two cages if not. Thirty days is recommended. Also you haven't said what sex the other birds are that you intend to get. You still havent said or shown us the size of your cage. For instance, if you got another male and female with the intentions of breeding, the very existance of a nesting box may induce them to breed far too early. This will result in deaths of chicks and maybe mothers. Two pairs of budgies in a cage will result in nasty fights over both territory and nesting sites. One nesting box in a cage with four budgies is not a good idea. If you really want help or answers you must give more information. Being a constant member of this forum will give you much needed advice and knowledge if you are prepared to listen to good advice and learn from it. Popping in and out of the forum briefly won't teach you much. I hope you are willing to both listen and learn for the sake of your birds. Edited June 6, 200618 yr by budgiebird
June 6, 200618 yr Your budgies are too young to breed. You must wait until both the male AND the female are 12 months old. At 7 months they are still babies themselves. Also it is not a good idea to put more than one pair together in a cage with one nest box. And yes you should quarintine your new budgies for 30 days.
June 6, 200618 yr okey what if i take out the nesting box and keep 4 budgies nd let them become mature for breeding and then make one cage da breeding cage ?? and the birds i intend to get will be around 5 months Edited June 6, 200618 yr by godsdrummer209
June 6, 200618 yr Firstly it is not a good idea to breed two pairs in one cage, as they will fight and kill each others babies. Yes take out the box
June 6, 200618 yr Again how big is your cage. What you have agreed to do with removing the nesting box shows good sense. However, when it is time for breeding you would still only want one pair in the cage at a time with a breeding box. If you had a much larger aviary you could put a couple of pairs and breeding boxes in together....but even then, there would have to be twice as many boxes as you had pairs of birds to allow for selection of nesting site. And also room to allow for territorial disputes. You would have to have your nesting boxes a distance apart or fights will ensue. There is a lot involved in breeding birds where if you dont know enough you risk the life of breeding pairs and babies
June 6, 200618 yr okey here is a picture of my bird cage when i purchase the 2 other budgies i will defently remove the nest box until they reach the age to be mature to breed Edited June 6, 200618 yr by godsdrummer209
June 6, 200618 yr okey here is a picture of my bird cage when i purchase the 2 other budgies i will defently remove the nest box until they reach the age to be mature to breed In my opinion too small for four budgies. Please take out the nesting box. I remember we were discussing this cage before. Notice how congested their space is up at the top ? Try removing the perch going across the cage and set up a couple of perches going front to back lower down ...so they can hop across the cage from perch to perch if not fly across if space permits. Your seed containers should not be directly under any perches or too near them really as they will contaminate their food with droppings so try moving those to a clearer area too. I notice in this shot your cage door is partway open. This could be a means of escape or a way for predators to get to them. It could even be a cause of death to a bird if it gets stuck trying to get through the gap. Could you attach a close peg and make sure it is closed properly for safety of the birds. Where is the other cage for quarantining your new birds ? Edited June 6, 200618 yr by budgiebird
