Posted May 25, 200619 yr my friend is giving a albino female budgie and he says it kills every male he puts by her so what can i do to stop this
May 25, 200619 yr Try house her in a cage next to a male and see how she reacts And then you can go from there, increase the amount of time she see him each day. When she ahs eventualy calmed down, you can let her and the male out together (supervised) for a short period of time. Increase this time slightly every day. Then we she is fine with that put her in his cage for a little while (supervised) and then take her out. Again, increase the amount of time each day. When she is fine with this, put the male in her cage and repeat the last step (supervised). Try this But always supervise, while she is around the male. Then perhaps you could put the males cage next to her's over night. Then you could attempt to house her with males only when you are fully confident. You will have to introduce her to each male (infact all of your budgies) this way. Hopefully it will work. Make sure when they are in the same cage that there is a seed dish for each budgie, so no fighting happens. Edited May 25, 200619 yr by Sailorwolf
May 25, 200619 yr I would go one step further and say that instead of putting the male into the female cage, do the opposite... put the female into the male cage that way the female won't feel territorial about her cage and might accept the male that way. good luck.
May 26, 200619 yr Yes I said that. I said put the female in the male's cage first and then when that is right, put the male in the female's cage. You should do this to find out whether she is territorial, because, even when she is put into the male's cage she will eventually establish that as her territory anyway. So you sort of need to establish whether or not she will be territorial anyway.
