Hey all I was just wondering if anyone can shed any light as to why my tiger and lex are acting like a couple cause they are both males ;) someone told me that its because they have worms, is this true? Ive wormed them all just incase but its still happening. Should I seperate them? or just leave them to it? Its not as if there arnt enough females in the aviary (7boys & 6girls) Maybe I should go buy some more girls :ausb:

Cheers

Don't worry. Boys naturally act as a couple, when they want to. What exactly do they do to each other?Kiss and bob, or do they attempt to mount each other?

Remember the concept of same sex couples doesn't worry animals, it is perfectly natural for them.

Often I find my males flirting with the girls, one minute and then flirting with the other boys the next.

My two girls do the same. There's nothing wrong in it; they're just best buddies and take care of each other and bond with lots of kissing and preening. My girls even feed each other sometimes.

They feed each other and when ever any of the other birds come near them they chase them off.Tiger has been sitting on one of the breeding boxes and looking in but as yet hasn't gotten inside one They haven't tried to mount each other yet. I caught tiger today just to have a closer look at him to make sure that I was right in sexing him, this is a picture I took in early April, would you say boy?

I could be wrong about the sex cause my Louis turns out to be a Lois..hehe

i dont know but the first picture looks like a boy and the second picture looks like a girl

okay l'm not an expert at this yet but l'll take a stab at this ,

l think that your budgie is a female , because the cere looks like there is a white ring around the nostrils (in the first picture). also in the second picture it looks like the cere is changing into a tan like color , can't really tell for sure thou might just be my monitor .

if their all in an aviary just leave them be it doesnt matter if youve got 2 girls or 2 boys together. and ive always been told you should have more males then females so i wouldnt add any more females if i were you

Yeah, I would say that she is a girl. Her cere is too white to be a boy (sometime girls have a blue tinge to their cere)

definately Girl

When girls are babies (well before they mature) there cere can be white or light blue.

When boys are babies they are pinkish or purpleish- generally there are some exceptions

Thanks everyone for your help, I really wasn't sure because it was so blue but now its not so blue..haha
