Posted May 16, 200618 yr we have 2 chicks 7weeks old from same clutch, (blue with cream wings they're both the same. TWINS.)we noticed neither of them can use their left feet! we had to remove them from nest box when they were about 5weeks old cus parents had started plucking feathers off their heads, (we presumed they wanted to breed again). we left them in the cage but put a hut in the bottom so they wouldnt go back in box. we've taken them out now cus theyre eating properly. but they cant sit on the perch properly they prefer the floor of the cage. 1 off them seems to walk on his elbow which has made it double in size. I dont think anythings broken cus theycan move all their toes. It just seems strange both should have the same problem could it be a breeding flaw? or do they just have to get used to using their feet? will they be able to cope in the flight? will the others pick on them? i'd be grateful for any ideas thanks
May 16, 200618 yr I've never come across this before, but since its the same in both birds, it makes me lean to a breeding flaw. I recoment a trip to the vet for their opinion.
May 17, 200618 yr Ask an avian vet. :glare: They definitely need to be seen. We can only guess about as good as you can but a vet can actually figure out what's wrong. Vet vet vet.
May 17, 200618 yr I agree they need to be seen by a vet, there is an avian vet right by you in Seven Hills if you don't already have one. If you need the name let me know.
May 17, 200618 yr What do you mean by, they walk on their elbow? Their elbow is part of their wings. Do you mean their ankle
