Ive just read somewhere that mites can make a budgies beak distort. Is there any other signs of mites?

Maxwells beak seems to be developing a bright yellow colour at the bottom - Ive not noticed this with any of my other birds. Is it anything to worry about - could it be some sort of deficiency?

Yeah I will I just thought that it may well be worth bearing in mind as the nearest avian vets is at least 2 hours drive and would preferably like something a little nearer if they get poorly. Anyway we will go along and see what he is like he might be awful but he might be okay. Im the kind of person who likes to see to believe so thats what we will do!

Yeah I know your strong views on this and appreciate it really I do but apparently this is a new vet thats does 2 days a week and specialises in birds he aint the vet my dog went to just the same surgery - anyway my birds arent sick and it cant hurt to take them along to see what he says dont you think?

Oh no this one is in my town about 15 mins drive - the other avian vets are more than 2 hours away - sorry if I didn't explain that properly.

Well its not really an Avian vets but theyve just taken on a guy who works Wednesday and Thursdays who is very knowledgeable in bird care I know its not ideal but this vets is very reputable and looked after my pooch for 15 healthly years and its the nearest in 2 hours drive. Anyway Im taking them along next week for check ups so I will let you know my opinion on him!

Ive got plastic carry boxes for vets visits - and it has a perch in too I think they are for all small animals mine are Disney ones with Mickey and Minnie Mouse on - Candy has the pink one because he the puffy one. I got them at the pet store for only about ?4/5 each.

I cover the big cage with a double fitted bed sheet - the only thing I could find big enough hehe! The other 2 cages are covered with a single bed sheet cut in half - all creamy yellow colour!

How is Merlin doing has he seen a vet yet?

Gawd thanks guys youve put my mind at rest I was getting worried I was the only one with a little piggy fatty budgie. He doesnt fly much thats probably why - the others all get out and have exercise but Candy has always been like this prefers to play with his toys he has never been an explorer - still going to go steady on his treats maybe every other dayr or so put it on for half an hour and take it out after theyve had a bit maybe?

Oh Oh Candy looks as fat as Piper hehehe.

I will I dont think I have any scales at home but will get some off my Mum. Patty is quite big too I guess (yellow girl) gosh I hate watching their every move dont you - wish they werent so delicate sometimes hehe.
