How are the finches going?

A zebra finch is sexually mature at 13 weeks of age. I breed my birds at the age of 6 months.

Looking great . What I've noticed is that when i used to use those wicker nests ( the nest that u have in there ) u get less chicks successfully growing and fledging. I switched to nest boxes. ( I own and breed 35 zebra finches)

Don't worry she's basically incubating 24/7 now

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but my hen has laid 3 eggs so far and she has just lost interest in them, is there anything I can do to help? Thanks, Mike

Yes the photo's are of the same chick. I thought only rec. pieds have a clear patch on the back of their head but I guess I was wrong.

Today I just noticed the chick has a clear patch on the back of it's head. Isn't the patch on recessive pieds? not dominant pieds?

Can any 1 tell the sex of the chick from the photo? : The nostrils are white around the outside not blue ( icecream tub reflects making it seem blue).

Yes the baby is cinnamon. Here is the mum would you be able to tell if the mum is opaline? ( Yellow bird )

The photos below are the clearest I can get in the 1st Picture the cere shows blue on it but that's just the reflection of the icecream tub the 2nd picture ( distance ) is the actual colour of the cere a light pink with whitish rings around nostrils.

There is a bit of white around the nostrils and the rest is a light pink is that female?

Hello every one I was hoping someone could identify my baby budgie's gender I don't know anything about sex linked things but the mutations of the parents might help with gender of the chick: the Mum is a YF2 grey spangle dominant pied and the Dad is a YF2 cobalt opaline.
