  1. Many thanks and apologies for forgetting pics. Given she has just started chirping from quarantine upstairs to our female downstairs we now assume she is a she but love to hear any opinions. Thanks!
  2. Hi, Unfortunately we lost our nearly 5 year old male recently. Who knew that could hurt so much - he left a large impact on our lives and was doted on. So anyway, we stumbled upon this little one and while we thought it a male originally, now not sure at all. We've had (her) for 24 hours and not really a peep (quarantined upstairs as we have a female downstairs). We did a basic bite test (not as savage as our other female) but aside from that we are stumped now. Any ideas out there or more info/better pics needed? Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks so far everyone. By the looks of the responses, the jury is still out! We keep "feeling" she is a girl but in a lot of doubt now We also remain unsure as to what kind both our beautiful budgies are. It matters little, we adore them. This quarantine business is the pits - they are desperate to get together. Smokey hangs on the doorknob leading to Ngiri's quarantine room - (the photo of them together i quickly grabbed when the door was left ajar and Smokey was found to have snuck in - we admit we were bad parents). They call to each other all day. Anyway, enough rambling (at least you guys understand the obsession - its hard to talk budgies with joe average - you get the "are you crazy" look) Thanks everyone (more opinions still welcome!)
  4. Noticed many views but no comment..does anyone have any advice? See previous post for pictures Thanks
  5. Hi Kaz, I did reply to my own post noting my sleepy error regarding "dominant recessive", I meant "dominant pied" Just purchased and told around 12 weeks. Also told it was a female! No iris, just big black eyes. Let me try post another picture. Thanks very much so far! I hope I can sort out the photo myself this time - tried what I could. Will upload others right now Thanks Kaz, I hope these pictures help with its gender and also exactly what kind she may be. Thanks for your help re the photos. Does it help to add that our male cannot bite to save himself and this new bird bites and craws blood? I thought males didnt really bite and females did? I thought this was another indicator that she was indeed a she. Here is another picture of her with our other older male budgie, Smokey. Our new one is with her/his back to camera. Incidentally, can you identify his kind? No matter if not.
  6. Hi there, I have as much internet/pet shop knowledge that is possible when trying to figure out what gender my budgie is but I still am not completely sure! Can you help? Also, to the very astute, can you tell me what kind she is? I believe her (we think its a her) to be a dominant recessive but each time we see if different but similar kind, we change our thinking! Any help appreciated! i'm sorry, I meant "dominant pied"
