Hmm. I sent the same photos to a budgie breeder and he says that it's likely a male. Does anyone else have any thoughts?

I'd also love some help with my budgie if I could. I just picked this little guy up yesterday. I was told it's around 6 months old but I'm not sure. Is anyone able to tell? I am also having A LOT of trouble getting my budgie to trust me. I try every day, I put my hand in the cage and slowly bring it up to him, but as soon as he sees it he flies as far away as possible. It's really frustrating and I don't know how to resolve it. Any suggestions?
