What a beautiful beautiful boy. I'm so sorry.
  2. Lovely pictures, Nev.
  3. If you can wait till it gets dark, turn out the lights and try to just pick him up and pop him back in his cage.
  4. Nice to hear you've got a new friend. You'll have to post some pics. It was so sad about little Dalek. Good on you, Splat. That was a lovely thing to do.
  5. So sorry. It's so sad for you.
  6. I'm so sorry. It's so hard to watch them go and not be able to help.
  7. Okay. Looks like I'll be making a trip to Bunnings for a reccy.
  8. Hey, you know those household mozzie zappers you get in supermarkets, the ones that you either slot in a little pad or a small bottle and plug into the wall. Are they okay to use around pet budgies? They say safe for pets, but does that include something tiny like a bird?

A happy couple having some snuggle time. Couldn't have better news than that.

You'll have to post photos of the happy couple.
  11. Gumpy sounds like a real champion little bird. I'm glad you have found his pictures.
  12. If it is moulting, it can be a stressful time because of the extra energy needed to grow new feathers. My vet recommended some extra energy boost additives for the moulting season which I mix in water a couple of days of every week in high summer through the major moult time. But like Kaz says, check his poop or other symptoms, in case it's something else.
  13. Fritz is a cute little guy. Where do you work that they let you bring him in? Does he fly free in the office?
  14. A wheat bag should do just as well. How is your budgie now?
  15. My other half has an iphone. I get to use it every now and again, so I'm not an expert. But. What I like about it is that it's really easy to use - typical apple style. You don't have to be a geek to work it. Also, since I use a Mac laptop, it just syncs in really easily. If you want to pull photos or video off it, I just plug it into my laptop and up they come. My crappy Nokia requires cables and downloaded software and a whole pile of trouble - and even then it doesn't always work. Same thing if you store music on it and want to move it to your computer and vice versa. It doesn't support flash, which is a program used on some websites for the moving pictures. However, since flash is one of the programs which slows down your computer (and phone) and makes your system and other programs crash, I'm quite happy that it's not on there. That's why apple doesn't support it. They are more expensive than other phone options, however. For me though, I don't want to be fiddling under the bonnet or either my computer or phone with complicated interfaces - or viruses, so it works for me. I've used apple products for many many years (since the late 80s), long before they became big consumer products, and I have never had a virus in all that time. I don't know, but can Windows based phones get viruses? Essentially, these new phones are just super mini computers. There's supposed to be a new model coming out very soon, by the way. You might want to wait. I heard September or October, but don't quote me on it. You can either get the new whiz bang one, or the older model will come down in price.
  16. I was thinking more Arctic with all that snow!
  17. Try wrapping a hot water bottle in a towel and placing in the bottom of the cage, with the cover over the cage to keep the heat in. Avian vet suggestion.
  18. Poor Henry. That's some hump! Get him a teeny book to sit on his head and give him deportment lessons.
  19. Ones I know. There's avian vet Alex Rosenwax in Waterloo www.birdvet.com.au or avian vet Rob Marshall in Carlingford. www.birdhealth.com.au
  20. If you can find a cage where most of the bars run horizontally, it will be easier to climb.
  21. thanks Firebird. I'm really pleased so far with Rob's stuff, especially as he really likes the taste of everything. Everything smells good. And it's really easy to prepare. I hate mucking around.

    He's lovely. He'll make a good buddy.
  23. One of my neighbour's cats was in love with my little daschund. Every day she'd come around and scratch on the flyscreen door to get him to come out and play chasings. They'd whiz around and around the perimeter of the house - first my dog chasing the cat for a few rounds, then they'd reverse and the cat would chase my dog. When my gorgeous dog sadly died after being struck by a car, the little ginger cat would still come around tapping on the door to find him. It was heartbreaking.
  24. All sounds promising. Your vet sounds really good. Great work between the pair of you.
