  1. Thanks for the tips guys. He's started making some noise other than to the other birds outside, but he only does it when hes behind my computer... Strange, I think he's a little shy. He only gets a mirror when its unavoidable. He's goes on my shoulder everywhere so sometimes he sees himself. Ill try and keep him away from the shiny surfaces
  2. Awesome, thanks for you help KAZ! Do you know what type he is? I did know there was a budgie of the month competition... Ill put this one in then. Cheers.
  3. Im still a noobie so i dont know how to sex them till they have a coloured cere. His cere looks more blue in these pics than in real life. I wouldnt be surprised if he was male and he doesnt bite like a female. He lets me scratch his head and noozle him with my nose. He's in my museli... Eating all the coconut, pumpkin and sunflower seads. He was so full after a big feast that he fell asleep ON the seed treat coz he couldn't be bothered moving... SO CUTE!
  4. Update: I got my little Felix for $30. Its weird to put a price on something i love so much! He's amazing! He was 6 weeks old on the 20.10.10 (At least i think its a he... He's too young to tell). He's really quiet, hardly makes a sound unless there are birds outside of he's infront of a mirror. But hes really tame and cute!
  5. How do you know when they are ready to move onto the next step? My new budgie is 7 wks old, is that too young to start? He's used to my hands etc and he's hardly ever in his cage. He seems to get distracted within 2mins of training... Should i only use the millet for the clicker training or can i hang some in his cage too? I cant seem to access the videos you uploaded, id love to watch them. Im sure they are really helpful!
  6. Hey Wildflower How did you teach him not to screech? My baby budgie is calling to the birds outside and i think im going deaf!
  7. Awesome! I live in brisbane on the south side. I've been in contact with some of the Budgie Clubs around here and they are helping me get in contact with some breeders. Cant wait!
  8. Im with JimmyBanks. I LOVE the white one!
  9. Thanks KAZ! An awesome answer. How much do you think i should be paying? (So i dont get ripped off)...
  10. Im after a young budgie to train and to love. I know that the mother teaches them how to look for food etc. 1. How old should a chick be to SAFELY remove it from its mother? How many weeks old? 2. How much should i pay for a standard young budgie? I dont show budgies so i dont want anything fancy. Just want something cute.... What am i saying, they're ALL cute!!! How am i going to choose?!?!
  11. Just an update. Dibby is all better. I decided to leave Ziggy at my parents house with her because they are such good friends now.

  14. The greys look exactly the same! Twins! So cuuuuuute.
  15. I gave her some rescue remedy and she's getting better. She's eating her seed, preening and ringing her bell again. I don't think ill give her any other food (fruit and biscuits etc) until she's 100% better, just to be safe. She has a cuttlefish to nibble on if she wants to. She's been resting up and Ziggy is leaving her alone to sleep (i think he knows she's not feeling well). Thank god she's getting better, i don't know what id do without her!
  16. Thanks so much for all your help guys! We've taken the nesting box away and she hasnt tried to nest anywhere else in the house *phew*. However, we thought at first that she was grumpy with us for taking away her box as she was being very antisocial. But a day later she has been throwing up all her seed and seems very weak. She's all puffed up and i dont know what to do! Suggestions?
  17. Hi everyone. I have a male budgie (Ziggy) and my parents have a female (Dibbie). They are both tame and fly around the house only visiting their cage to eat and sleep. I went on holiday to visit my parents and the two birds really hit it off. We gave them a nesting box and they have nested twice now and both times the eggs have been infertile! I know they have been mating as i've seen them going at it. I don't want them to mate again as i feel it is taking its toll on the female. I looked at the pictures on this forum and her cere is similar to the ones which are NOT fit for mating. 1. How do we stop them mating? 2. If we take the nesting box away, will she nest somewhere else in the house? She still uses the nesting box occasionally to escape the male, but there are no eggs in there. 3. If i wanted to take my male back home with me, is it mean to separate them? Do they mate for life? 4. How many infertile batches should you let them lay without harming the female? Sorry if these are silly questions, I'm really new at this nesting business! I love them immensely and don't want to harm them. Thanks for you help.
