Welcome to the Forum. Your bub's look lovely, I'll look forward to seeing more photo's
  2. great find, what a pretty boy. he is just lovely
  3. Ratzy, just keep reinforcing what she should be doing and be a good friend if things go wrong for her with the new birds. Unfortunately it sometimes takes something to go wrong before important lessons are learnt. Your trying and thats all you can do at this stage...
  4. gorgeous babies.....
  5. That just breaks my heart . Whilst breeders who show Budgie are competative, surely everyone just does it for the love of these incredible birds. so how does it get to this????? i'm sure none of us could ever know the answer..
  6. well deserved... Congratulations Finnie...
  7. Really Cute, Well done Jack
  8. Thank you both. The Sky hen is a narky little thing. lol, Hopefully that means she grow into a great mum for us in the future
  9. Very Very Very Nice :sadsorry: :rip: ,
  10. Hi Splat, The Violet Spangle and the DF Spangle's are pet types. It's the others I'm curious about. All 3 you mentioned are from the same nest (althought the Grey Opaline was fostered out and raised in a different nest). They are all only 4 months old now and from our first show bred pair. it is the same Spangle on the swing and next to the DF Spangle.
  11. Here are some of our chicks from before the Winter hiatus... 1 is a DF Spangle cock, and all the others are hens. 3 of them are from our first pair of Show bred budgies (A Sky Opaline hen and a Grey Green/Blue Spangle Cock), we couldn't believe the size difference in the chicks. They seem huge to us, and we just love them. I'd be interested to hear your comments on them, because we have no idea if the quality is good, bad or otherwise. The others are from a spangle nest, including our first violet spangle a lovely surprise.
  12. sad way to loose your YF Kaz. But wow what gorgeous chicks the rest of the photos are, your Grey opaline is my favourite :sadsorry: ..
  13. :rip: Kaz, Thats is such terrible news....I'm so sorry for you. Your posts about Omelette have always been my favourite to read she was an incredible bird. RIP Omelette :sadsorry: , remembered always.. I think the idea of a special plant in her memory is a lovely one.. I know you will pick the perfect one for her...
  14. great looking parents Squeak. looking forward to seeing the chicks when they start to feather up.
  15. Wow... I've been really impressed and have learned lots from the number of comments about our chick (freckles). Thanks all, especially RIP, no wonder I was struggling with what type it was. I'll be interested to see what comes from the nest this round. The parents are up to 4 eggs now and still going. Even though we only got two chicks first round, we had 4 fertile from 5. With the two unsucessful ones, one died at 2 days old (unsure why?), and the other one I stupidly closed the nest box on the egg, when the cock accidently kicked it, 3 days off hatching (boy did I feel bad!!!, and very out of character for the cock)
  16. Hi Adi and Welcome. Paco looks like a real little sweeety. Can you please take another photo, face on which shows Paco's Cere (the area above his beak), the members on here will then be able to advise you on the sex of your budgie. The photo should be done without using a flash on your camera.
  17. Thanks for your input Squeak , Yes she definately has Iris rings. Also the other chick in the nest (a cock) is clearly dommie pied, so must come from her. Sorry don't have a front shot of this one, but it is dark green and clearly banded yellow in the centre. Far more obvious Dom Pied than mum.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome... Squeak, we do love our pieds, none for sale at the moment though, just had a cull and keeping everyone else at the moment as a lot are new birds for us as we've been building stock over the last 12 months and we are waiting to see who matures the best in amongst our own bub's. That said you can always bring any TCB's with you if you have any for sale , I'm always admiring yours and find them hard to get around here. Hope you enjoy Albury... Its pouring rain here at the moment. but it is rain we seriously need, so I shouldn't complain
  19. Lovely Pinkies Finnie, It will be exciting to see them feather up. All the best with all your pairs will keep following your progress.
  20. Splat, just wanted to say what a handsome boy you have
  21. The eye's are Dark GB, if they we're red that would make it something different. Yes?? I'm right in saying TCB's have dark eyes aren't I, or am I really confused.. Also Squeak the Hen is definately Dom Pied, she has iris rings, although I did take a close look at her myself when putting her into our breeding records. But definately Dominant..
  22. Thanks for your comments. I'm really appreciating the feedback, as everytime I think I have mutations all worked out, I find out I still have so much to learn. You guys are the best

Thanks to everyone, who has already commented in my post about the mutation of our chick.. I thought that since I've now posted I should introduce myself properly. My Husband's family bred budgies when I first met him (15 years ago). I'd always had a pet budgie, but to see chicks and a flock. Lets just say I was hooked. LOL. It took up to 2 and a half years ago before it was practical for us to start breeding for ourselves and our small avairy of 6, quickly grew to 20 and we now limit ourselves to around 60 (these birds are just so addictive). My husband has got really good at building extensions . We have 8 Breeding cages and breed pet types, although we do own quite a few club rung budgies as well. In fact we seem to be naturally getting larger birds now, and have just recently culled a few of our smaller guys. We love all colours and varieties, but have a special fondness for Texas clearbodies (we just wish they weren't so hard to get, especially Hens. We currently have 3 cocks (Tex, Kermit and Riley). As we have been growing a flock at lot lately, we have lots of young birds so were really excited about the coming months when we get start to breed with some of them. We have one pet budgie inside the house, Snoopy. Snoopy was from our very first clutch, he's a grey opaline. This was a clutch of 4 chicks and the other 3 went to my parents, my hubby's parents and our son child care centre, so it's been great to watch these initial chicks develop and grow. Anyway enough babbling on, just wanted to say thanks for the many many many times you guy's have helped us out already over the many months I've been Lurking Here's some photo's of just some of our flock for you all to see!!! Violet Skye Ben and Narky Lady Cassie Indy Polly Banjo and Bubsy Merlin and Omelette (Yes Kaz, named as a tribute to your girl, we just hope she lives up to her namesake ) Pippin Skye and Chuckles Greenie Blue Boy Percy Small group One of our most recent chicks (Brother to chick in my Mutations question post.) Anyway hope to post more often now I've made the move
  24. Thanks Nubbly, I hadn't considered the possiblity of Greywing also... I have created a full on cocktail haven't I. I agree Finnie, looking forward to the next batch, thats one thing I love about pet types. All the surprises....
