i dont no if you were trying but that was sort of funny (im not weird) i think tomorrow i will tell my budgies abbout catching a cold as well. When they sneeze it sounds so cute. Also, a baby budgie recently came out of his nest because he was ready to but i found him on the floor this morning, on the cold, wet floor, not strong enough to fly up. I told him "poor bugger, dont come out of the nest until youre ready. its too cold today to stay out. if you want warmth and food, go to your nest" then i gave the baby a kiss(theyre so warm and cuddly!" and put him back. I think he liked that. he didnt come back out. me and the baby i put a stick between the door so that it stuck there. The albino just did it to see her owner become frustrated.

Me? Well iwas at school however, when i went outside afterschool, the wind was shocking the way the wind blew the trees sounded like thunder. As for my budgies, they hid under the shady bit, but the floor was all wet which made the poo all mushy and i almost slipped! One of the nests were open because my albino likes pulling up the doors on the sides of the nests and an egg fell out lucky the cold didnt freeze the babies inside!
  3. Wow, how unfortunate. Lucky you saved him in time. If he has survived up to now, i think he has a chance. however, yoou may need to feed him soft food for the rest of his life because he wont be able to crack seed. Some ideas are: polenta(corn pasta)that has been stirred with water and heated up i apaste( i once had to take care of a babby as well as it was hurt with this stuuff) also some sort of budgie starter from a petshop. Hope it helps. Would you PLEASE send pictures when the baby has fledged

I have buffalo grass in the backyard so i give grass seeds to my bird as well and oh my goodness they love it so much. i think budgies will stop eating if they're full, though. Maybe you could try hiding some lettuce with the grass seeds?

may be you should then make some sort of door with a lock. i would put some rubber on the outside of the door (rim) to protect from ant harm.

Cant reA=ally tell, should be a boy. But i will give you a hint. if it is a purplish bluish pink on the nostrils, its a boy, however, if its any colour, but its turning white just above the nostrils, its a girl :bluebudgie:
  12. Hello. Welcome to the forum! :bliss: I will tell you my story of Polly. See if it helps. On day, when i was coming back from a holiday, i heard screeching the box so i ran in to investigate, and one of my first Lutinos had been hurt by another female budgie invading the babies nest :bluebudgie: This lutino that had been hurt had all blood over its back so i brought it inside to take care of. Indeed, if i hadn't, she would have died :grbud: i tamed her, took her where i ever i went, so that she would trust me more. It turned out to be a girl, who we christened Polly. However, there are other loud budgies outside unfortunately, so whenever we brought her inside she would fly on the curtains to show that she wants to get out. However, this girl was very tame, and it would even try feeding us! Now she is the prettiest budgie of my flock. Anyway, i think that yes, girls can be a tiny bit vicious, depending if you have budgies outside. If not, i belive that a girl could be just as tame.

:bluebudgie: Hey Mikey. The photo is a bit small and you cant really see the cere (nostrils) on the budgie. i tried to copy and paste it on Word and enlarge it but it becomes blurry. :grbud: HOwever it looks like a girl so far. :bliss:

  19. I ve noticed that with babies that (before the ceres turn the actual colour) for hens, just above the nostrils would be white and with cocks the whole cere is a purplish-blue. I think your babies a girl By the way, very nice bird

John Scoble wrote a quite popular book called The Complete book of Budgrigars in the 1980's. He was then renowned to be one of the top Australian breeders then and had 600 budgies at his home. It is a great book he wrote and he seemed to be in his fifties at the time of publishing. What i was wondering, where is he now? Does he still breed birds? Please help if possible
