Is This A Good Mix?
okay, fair enough. I've been trying different things to get her to eat vegies... Sprouts mised in with her seed, a tray of peas, corn, carrot and sporuts on the floor of her cage, I made a mix with carrot, honey, soaked lentils, celery, barley and mixed a whle bunch of her seed in... And no luck. It's just frustrating when I make something for her and try to get her to eat and then have to throw it all out.

Lice!
Hmmm, thats what I thought, my horses have caught lice before but it didn't transfer on to us. So should I treat Minx just as a precaution? Is it Ivermectin that I use?

Is This A Good Mix?
That what i was thinking. If I can get her eating it as part of this then she might get a taste for it and start eating fresh stuff... I think i'll go ahead and buy some. Im also buying some beak appetit 'veggie delight' mix to try and tempt her.

Is This A Good Mix?
http://birdzone.com.au/shop/index.php?act=...mp;productId=94 Does this look like a good mix to give my budgie who won't eat any of the fresh fruit/vegies I give her?

Best Pairs?
okay, thanks for that :] *sneaks around hoping to steal Nixie*

Best Pairs?
To me Jasper looks like a cinnamon... But i'm super new at this so I could be wrong! I love Sonny and Nixxie... Very pretty birds, I would breed more of them!

Lice!
I've moved the bird over to the other side of the room in case that is what happened. Mum and I are both treating ourselves for nits, so if that fixes it can I assume the bird doesn't have lice?

Lice!
Okay, two questions... How do I know if my bird has lice? She seems really healthy... If she does, how do I treat it? Secondly, can birds give lice to people? I have been really itchy on my head and neck since around the same time I got Minx... I had her cage next to my bed where my head is, and mum thought she may have given me lice :S

When Should I Let My Budgies Out?
I have gum leaves and millet spray in her cage to try and get her eating. I replaced the old gum leaves and she hasn't touched the new ones... She only just started eating the millet over the weekend, she hadn't touched it before that. Whenever I try to feed her millet from my hand she just ignores it. Elly, by new things I was meaning things like standing on my shoulder, etc. It would be kind of hard to do that in the cage, lol. I taught her step up in her cgae as she feels safe there, and I always get her to step up then bring he rout of the cage, I dont just let her fly out. When she flies away out of the cage she just flies a curcuit of the room and comes back to her speaker, even if I am standing right beside it.

When Should I Let My Budgies Out?
I've been taming my Budgie, Minx... You mentioned rewarding them. So far my Minx won't eat anything other than her seed and chewing on newspaper and gum leaves, and won't take anything from my hand... how can I reward her? A big thing i'm going is teaching her new things out of the cage. That way she can fly away if the feels threatened, and she is only doing things because she chooses to.

When Should I Let My Budgies Out?
My girl flies away if I put my hand in to change things, etc. But when I want her to step up she is fine as ong as I come up from underneath her. She's a bit weird... lol. I still haven't clipped her wings and am waiting a while to decide if I should :]

When Should I Let My Budgies Out?
I let my new 7-8 week old Budgie out the second day i had her, with no wing clip... Porbably not the best idea in hindsight, but it turned out okay! I let her out in my bedroom, and I persisted with getting her back in and eventually got her on my finger and into the cage without having to grab her.

The Taming Of Minx!
Well, Minx keeps getting better :] (it's weird calling her Minx on here, at home her nickname birdy-bird has stuck!) Me being away most weekends with my horses doesn't seem to affect her much. I got her to stand on my shoulder for the first time the other night, yay! Ihad let her out and she was up on the speaker, her favourite spot. So I spent a while just getting her on my finger, moving her around... She will now hop onto my finger when I hold it a centimetre or two in front of her. She lifts her leg up and down, pretends she is going to bite, then hops on. So cute! So I tried bringing her close to my shoulder... She flew off the first time but straight back to the speaker, not around the room. The scond time I just left my finger near my shoulder for a few minutes and then sirt of levered her feet off my finger ontt my shoulder... she stayed for a few minutes then back to her speaker. I did it once more then put her away. She still isn't eating anything but seed, but I think she is starting to settle... She has started nibbling the gum leaves and started a little shredding of the newspaper I tied to the side of her cage for that purpose.

The Taming Of Minx!
Thanks guys! I have been thinking about wing clipping. I'm still on the fence. I think I will keep perservering for a while, and if she deosn't get any better I may try it. I'm hesitant to because she is so good now about getting on my finger even though she can fly away if she wants... I got her first go last night without her flying away once. My thinking now is that I probably will eventually clip her wings, once. I will just wait and see how far I get without it, first :]

The Taming Of Minx!
Minx continues to get better and better :] She's funny though, she is really good about stepping up onto my finger now. I make a cluck/kiss noise at her when i want her to get on my finger, and she sort of waves a leg at me to get ready, lol. But she still hates my hand in the cage... I did some practise with her on my finger, then put her back on her perch and reached to adjust one of her feed trays near her perch... And she freaked out and flew out of her cage. The curtains were open, which I never do while she is out, so she flew into the window twice before I could shut them. She didn't hurt herself though. She was really good to put back after that though. Got on my finger first go, flew back to the speakers once but got her all the way the second time. I think she only flies off when I move her too fast... I have to take her really slowly between speakers and cage (I have to climb a chair to reach her up there, climbing back off with only one hand isn't easy!) and when I do she stays on my hand the whole way. How can I get her used to my hand NOT there to stand on? I've been leting her out when I want to adjust her cage, clean it or change feed/water as she flies around a lot when i try to do things with her inside... But overall i'm really happy with how she is going!

Moulting
^^ Oh, great idea! Would it be okay to put the vegies with seed over them in for the day while the actual seed is out for the day? Or is that too long if she doesn't eat the vegies? In regards to keeping her warm, she lives in my room but our heater is broken and I have wooden floorboards... I have a towel over two sides of her cage, but what else can I do to keep her warm? Or should she be okay as is? Thanks everyone!

Moulting
My Budgie has just started her first moult... I have only had her for about a week and a half. She is still settling in and won't eat any fresh fruit or vegies I put in for her and doesn't really do much. Will this be a problem with her moult? She eats pleanty of seed, but only seed. Is there anything I should put in her water? Anything I should be doing?

The Taming Of Minx!
Thanks guys! I had a horse riding competition on the weekend. so I wasn't able to handle her Saturday or Sunday. When i got back on Sunday though I let her out. She is really good now at standing on my finger, even lifts her foot up in anticipation! But I can still only do it from one perch. She's funny, I get her out of the cage, just, and she flies back in! But I just kept trying and eventually she went for a few laps of my room and settled down in her favourite place on my speakers. She was a bit more flighty when I went to get her back in, but I think that might have been because my bf was in the room, once he left I got her almost straight away. I got her halfway to her cage and she hopped off onto my snowboard bag. I thought she would fly back to the speakers when I went to get her, but she didn't! And got her in her cage from there. She was a ton better than I thought she would be after two days of not being handled! I don't think i'm going to clip her wings, as she is easy enough to get without them clipped, plus I like the fact she can fly around if the feels the need. Pl;us, is they were clipped, she wouldn't be able to get to her favourite spot!

Hi! Newbie :]
Hey Robyn! I think it's because she is a baby. If she were an adult I think blue would mean a cock... But not entirely sure, lol.

My Budgie Doesn't Seem Very Happy...
I change the channel most nights for her :] Just a question... What's the normal age for a Budgie to be weaned? I got the impression from the pet shop lady that the Budgies they had including Minx arrived when they were 4 weeks. Reading here makes me think that would have been too young...

My Budgie Doesn't Seem Very Happy...

My (extended) Family!

My (extended) Family!
So, I figured I would share pictures of my other pets as well :]My dad manages a farm, and he has 4 working Kelpies that live there. We bred his really good old dog, Tuff, with another of ours, Holly, and I got to keep a pup. This is my Skip: We also have three dogs at home. One really old cavalier King Charles, and two Maltese X Shitzu X Pomeranian puppies. One is mine, one is mums. This is Rambo, my puppy: And finally, I have two horses. One little arab gelding, Wildey, who i'll keep for life. The other is an ASH gelding, Bundy, who I show and campdraft and ride mounted games on. I'll eventually sell him and move on to something new. I haven't got any photos on here of them, but i'll try to find some :] *Oops. Here the picture of Rambo I accidentally replaced with Minx. lol.

My Budgie Doesn't Seem Very Happy...
Yay :] I guess she is still settling in then, or maybe she just isn't a very playful budgie...

My Budgie Doesn't Seem Very Happy...
Here are some pics. She is sometimes quite fluffed up, I thought she might be getting cold as my room is a bit of a cold room... I have now put a towel on two sides of her cage to try and keep her warmer. She doesn't have a poopy botom from what i can see, and her dropping look pretty normal from what i've read. She doesn't seem to be thin, but she is my first bird so I may just not notice... I also don't know about the age, could you tell from the pics?
