2010 Melton Blue Ribbon Auction
That's good to know, I was thinking about giving it a miss but if I do actually have a decent chance with walking away with something then it's back on the cards for sure. I'd really like to get at least 3 pairs to start a decent line with.

My Babies.
I wasn't sure about keeping the Albino cock or the Grey Opaline/Albino, I will definately keep the hen though. If I can't source anything elsewhere to pair with her/them I have these Allbino Splits or if I do keep the Albino cock I was thinking about this hen

My Aviary Sucks Ive Tryed Everything
Yeah tin roof, I started to have the problems when I moved my aviary into my garage to avoid it getting exposed to weather extremes. Great help that was.

My Babies.
I didn't mean the one in the pics, he's her brother from her parents 2nd clutch, all my ablino and albino splits are brothers and sisters over 2 clutches from the same parents. I meant that if I come across a good Grey/albino cock with the right features and breeding to complement her I'll purchase and use him to her and to her mother so I have some 1/2 brothers/sisters to work with. I'd like to obtain a really good quality grey normal to use to get some splits as well.

Dad was an Opaline Blue/Albino and as far as I know not split for cinnamon according to the breeder, mum doesn't appear cinnamon either. I can't test mate dad as he's no longer with us

My Aviary Sucks Ive Tryed Everything
I'm having similar problems with my aviary, mysterious deaths with no apparent cause, autopsy results inconclusive. All birds kept in cages right next to the aviary are 100% so I'm stumpped. I've taken all my birds out of my aviary and I'm in the process of replacing my aviary with a series of cages (4x 120cm/45cm/45cm and another 4x 90cm/45cm/45cm for now at least) that I'm planning on fixing to the walls of my garage. Then I'll be disinfecting my aviary and leaving it empty for a month or two before slowly reintroducing a few birds, if the problem returns I'll scrap the aviary all together. Hope you can find a solution.

2010 Melton Blue Ribbon Auction
Wish I could meet you there but I think airfares from W.A. would be more than $150 Shame we can't ship ourselves around for the same amount it costs to transport our birds, I'm sure I could handle a few hrs in a box for cheaper airfairs, throw in a pillow lol if you drive and can hire a car your welcome at mine lol can drive me their with you only theirs only one  so may have to just go for drive I did consider driving my car down, just thought it'd be more cost effective to fly, flight costs vs petrol cost....... Still thinking about it if I do I'll let you know and pick you up on the way. I wasn't actually considering the funnily enough they're not actually a variety I was planning on focusing on it just kind of happened Also I'm hoping on approaching John Smithers for assistance with my Albinos, I'm told he has some of the best ones in NSW and he's president of my local so...... I really like lot 224 the spangle hen pictured and was wanting to get a few birds from a good bloodline to work with.

My Babies.
I can't see cinnamon in them, in person but maybe I'll test mate the grey opaline/ino to a cinnamon hen to make sure though. I'm hoping to put the hen at the top with a good grey cock when I can find one to get some splits, whatever I do find for her I'll be putting to her mum as well. Wouldn't say no to a good grey/ino cock though if I come across one with the right features. Ideally I'd like to mate each of them (mum and daughter) to a Grey and a grey/ino.

Thanks KAZ I'm looking forward to getting the opportunity to take them to a show to see how they go. Also looking forward to producing more chicks in my 2nd year

Will She Get Eggbound?
You don't need to take her out, if she lays more eggs just take them out and trow them away if you don't want her to raise a 2nd clutch.

Yeah their both Opaline, I really like the Sky Blue as well. I think he's one of the best I've bred and dispite the fact he's long flighted I'm thinking about putting the the same pairing down for round two soon. Also found out that the Grey Spangle father of the grey opaline spangle must be split for opaline... opaline, opaline everywhere

Some updated pics The long flighted Sky Blue Opaline Spangle Cock almost finished his first moult (next to his Dad) Above bird with Grey Opaline/Ino Cock. Grey Opaline/Ino sister from the same nest on right with Mum. Newest fledgling Grey Spangle with Mum and Dad. and on his own, he has a very good temprement. I had to put him in a cage on his own shortly after these pics were taken after he was attacked by Mum and Dad he lost a lot of blood but seems okay. he seems to have very dark wing makings to me?

The aviary bird was a freak accident and unrelated to the incident with the babies. I'm not sure why the bubs died they seemed healthy when I left for work Monday night and unfortunately I'm not going to be able to find out anything else until I get home Friday night. it's not something that could effect the rest of the flock, I'm hoping it was maybe just a hot day and too much for them.

Linda_s Breeding Journal
Just got a msg from my partner and 2 of the Yellow Face Sky Opaline X Double Factor Spangle Chicks Died yesturday This is extra upsetting as I recently lost one of my fav aviary birds over the weekend. These things coupled with the fact that my partner is going to be working in Canberra for ......??????........ which means I have no one to look after the birds for me during the week is making me think about getting out of the hobby for awhile at least or maybe do a really drastic cull and only keep 10ish birds a more managable number............
