  1. she can't possibly be wanting to mate any more! Her and Mork literally haven't stopped for 2 days! They were constant for about an hour yesterday! They have become very aggressive towards all the others lately as well. God help anyone that goes near her box, she flies straight into them and knocks them to the ground!
  2. I think she is just absolutely buggered from having Mork on her back pretty much constantly for the last 3 days! Shagger's back?
  3. I finally got pics of Mindy, Mork's mate!
  4. Not sure how old Sally is, still has no iris ring or is that just because she is a recessive pied? Oh dear, have I learnt something today????
  5. Hi averyone, Glad my dudes are causing so much controversy! As requested, some back pics of Harry and back and cere pics of Sally. I am pretty sure Sally is a girl, Harry is forever feeding her! Debbie
  6. Hi everyone, I have some more pics of my "inherited" birds. Would love to know from you experts who is what! "Harry" "Sally" "Trixie" "Girl" Thanks guys! Debbie
  7. Thanks Liv! To me he is a nice looking grey/yellow! I will post some pics of the other 9 "inherited" birds when I can. Debbie
  8. Hi Liv, Here are some more pics of the boy Cheers, Debbie
  9. Hi Kaz, It is not sand, more like a fine gravel, heavier than sand. The quails love "bathing" in it! The lady I got it from has only ever used this grit for over 30 years. I have paved around the outside where I can get to and the side against the fence has pavers inside, under the grit. Hopefully, between and my ever watchful puppy, we should be rodent free!
  10. Hi everyone, I have just "inherited" an aviary that came with 10 budgies, a pair of tiels and a pair of quails. I got it from the lady over the road who used grit on the bottom, so after 10 wheelbarrow loads full the bottom is covered in grit. Now, after reading the posts on here it seems I need a cement floor! Do I have to have cement or is the grit okay? Debbie
  11. I thought he was a boy, just wanted to be sure before I gave him a name! It was a 30 degree day when I took the picture so I would say he was fanning off a bit! Any idea what he is? Debbie
  12. Hi all. I am thinking this one is a boy, cere is kinda half blue half pink, just wanted to check. Hope the picture is clear enough, Thanks guys, Debbie
  13. Hi everyone, Sorry I haven't replied, this Christmas business creeps up so slowly and takes so much time! I have tried Kaz's idea and have been distracting her when I see her getting in "position" to start chewing and so far it seems to be working. The tail is starting to grow back but she still can't fly. As for her cage, it is approx 45cm wide, 35 deep and 60 high. So far she hasn't come out of her cage. I admit I have been a bit slack in her training, but I do try to spend at least 15 minutes every day with my hand in her cage and she has started to eat from my hand and comes to my finger to let me scratch her head. She happily hops on my finger and will sit there as long as I don't move. I know I need to spend more time with her but with 3 little monsters running around it is so hard to find a few minutes of peace! I will keep you informed on her progress. I am going to "borrow" a boy from a friend to see how she reacts. Debbie
  14. Hi All, Not sure what is going on with Gemma. She twists herself around on the cage so she has her back against the cage, holding on with her feet, then she gets either her tail feathers or wing feathers and bites them off! She has gotten to the point where she has actually clipped her own wings so she can't fly anymore! I have got some pics of her tail so you can see how short it is now. Other than this, she is eating and drinking as normal, poos are the same and she is still very vocal. What is wrong with her?? Please help! Debbie
  15. Glad to know she is a baby still! A big baby too. Does that have anything to do with being an English bird, as the breeder told me? She is having more awake time with lots of chirping and flapping around. She does a little "dance" too where she bobs her head up and down and side to side. She has also started to do this clicking thing with her tongue and beak, just as she is going to sleep. She puffs up when she is sleepy too, but not with all her feathers poking up like she was, just puffy, is that okay? Sorry to ask so many questions, I am rather paranoid lately, I don't want to lose another "baby" after only losing my "baby" dog 4 weeks ago . Debbie
  16. Hi Everyone, Harvey, now known as Gemma, is doing great. Thanks to Kaz, I managed to get in touch with her breeder and found out the following: Gemma was "born" on 14/06/2008, so she would be 4 1/2 months old. "Mummy" is an opaline cobalt violet spangle, "Daddy" is a normal green. Is she still classed as a baby? If so, when does this end? She is still a sleepy girl although she seems to be awake more than she was when I first got her. Cheers, Debbie
  17. The BIS is sideways and the FES is normal way up. I have had a good look at her eyes under the fluoro and I can't see a ring. Debbie.
  18. Hi Kaz I checked her leg ring again, she is a very patient girl, and the details are the same. I have also put a picture here of her eye, I can't see any iris ring just black. Debbie
  19. Hi, A girl? The man at the pet shop said a boy! Amateurs huh! Time for a new name I guess. I wanted a boy that would talk. Girls don't talk do they? She is still gorgeous though! "Her" leg ring, the black one, has on it: A sideways "BIS" "FES" a sideways "X8" 014 hope that makes sense! Debbie
  20. Hi, Thankyou for the replies! I have taken the mirror out and he is heaps more alert and active and no where near as plumped up! I don't think he is sick (I hope not anyway), he is eating regularly, he actually got very upset at me when I took his seed container out to clean it, and he spent 2 whole days jumping in it when I went near him! His bottom is clean and his poo is normal looking. Just to be safe I have put an 11 watt small fluoro light over him, hope this is okay, please let me know if fluoro's are no good. I didn't think he was an opaline, I thought the V bit had to be clear? I have put some more pics up so hopefully they are clearer. How about his beard! Debbie
  21. Hi Everyone, I'm new here and also new to Budgies! Harvey is a beautiful little boy I found at a pet shop 4 days ago. His colours really took my fancy. Anyone know why his head has different markings? Harvey is a very special boy. He is helping me deal with the grief of losing my beloved 13 year old Maltese X Foxie "baby" girl 3 weeks ago. So far he is doing a great job keeping me amused although he is a sleepy feller! He is supposed to be about 6 weeks out of the nest. Is it normal to be so sleepy? He is eating well, chirping nicely, loves to listen to me and already we have had lots of "finger time". He has a pink band on his right foot and a black band with writing on it on his left foot. Why does he need 2? Anyway, I have really enjoyed reading the different posts and am sure I will enjoy being a member. Debbie
