Budgerigar.Co.UK – from 29th January, 2010.
The New International Website for the Hobby Worldwide!
During 2009, I began to think of using the Internet, as a modern way of communication that could be utilised as a singular medium for the whole hobby World Wide.
So on the 29th January,2010, this new website www.budgerigar.co.uk went "Live".
In writing to you, my only request is will you please consider forwarding this e-mail to every fancier you have on your address list, as well as to provide it to all those who are not computer literate, to spread the word that something fresh has arisen from Gerald Binks.
I stress it is not a magazine and not a forum. It only has slight shades of both. It will change frequently, but irregularly. As you will realise, it is very extensive.
The website will feature the best illustrated articles from the most experienced fanciers around the world, to help those less knowledgeable who are anxious to learn. I therefore urge you to submit items for publication. Profiles of individuals and their establishments are welcome.
The site will also feature your quality photographs of the finest birds currently being shown worldwide.
You will see that I have been fortunate to have Dr Robert Marshall from Australia on side. He is arguably the most experienced Avian Veterinary Surgeon practicing today and his new Publication, "The Budgerigar", is the finest book I have personally read on how to avoid losing any of our valuable and important budgerigars. His easy diagnostic techniques, for us amateurs to recognise and treat sick budgerigars with the right drugs, is a pleasure to have continuously available on this new site.
I have also arranged that Riversway Avicultural Products (UK) Ltd will stock all the avian treatments recommended by Dr Marshall. Everything is on the website. Dr Marshall is also prepared to answer 8 health questions per month.
So, please "log on" and spend a while clicking on everything, including "tags", as you slowly realise that there is a great deal of cross referencing enabling you to find - at the touch of a button - all the information on whatever subject of our hobby in which are interested. e.g French Moult - click the tag "French Moult" and up come all the places it is discussed.
Please remember that this site will be the Universal Link among us all including the Major Societies . No politics will appear. Only constructive material will be published . I am taking personal responsibility to contact the Media in the UK and Eire. To all the Principal Society Leaders in each country, I request you do likewise to get the public at large to realise we not only exist as a hobby, but it is a great interest for young people to become involved in, as well as for others approaching retirement.
How else can we increase memberships without marketing ourselves? Just use this site, attach it to a short covering letter to the National Papers, Local papers and of course to any Radio or TV sources and bombard them regularly. That has to bear fruit so please advise me when successful. I will also be pleased, after you have surveyed the site, for
your reactions and I am open to any suggestions to take it further during its development.
As budgerigar.co.uk increases as a result of everyone`s input, so I hope it will become The Master Website for the hobby.
