  1. that rat and mouse bit thats very good idea cause vermont population is pretty much the only other thing they can hassle you with apart from housing and space for birds to be kept they can leagally make you get rid of birds that do not have the required amount of space or cage size per number and breed but you sound like you would have that in a rap if you have the species you have mentioned
  2. so you know i was not being nasty although reading this topic to see others advice it may of sounded that way im sorry i called you stupid just frustrates me to see so many people on this forum get fantastic advice from the well known and trusted members (me not being one of thoughs im just a novice breeder) and yet still repeating or comming back with same questions it didnt even pass through my mind that you may be even new here so but new or not i had no right to atack you in that way everyone here (well almost everyone) has been so kind and acomidating to me and id hate for you to think this place is unfrendly as it is far from it with some the best knolage out their so my sencere apoligys and please see i was only concered for welfair of chicks still no reason to be so abrupt hope all goes well the advice you have been given i hope you concider and best luck gb

  8. i cant awnser your question birds do it for diffrent reasons but i say take chicks away and buy hand rearing mix go to vet to be shown how to feed the young birds propply and DONT BREED AGAIN how could it be an accident if their was a breeding box as for vid i think your stupid to even allow it to happen even to show anyone sorry but honestly mate either find someone who has lots of time to rear it is a big job or find someone with birds on chicks around the same age thats all i can say oh apart from mabe read what daz wrote on hand rearing in here somewhere if anyone can place it here a link for this chap i would be thankful cheers
  9. just asked as have a very weird baby from a white hen, who was breed from a rec pied hen and a clearflighted spangle i then breed her to a yf2 opaline skyblue spangle /rec pie /cinnimon who i breed from, a yf2 par blue rec pie and an opaline cinn sky violet spangle hen and i think it is a heavily marked yf2 cobalt (par blue )spangle pied its head spot is the size of a dom pies and its flights are yellow fadeing to white tail feather yellow i do have lots picture of it and will post soon as i am able as i do want someone to help me put it into a mutation catagorie just hoped you would have a picture thanks anyhow
  10. your boy should be proud of his efforts i am glad you see the importance of his birds and suported him good job it is very heart rentching to hear the storys of certain peoples terror i myself know well the pain of lossing friends tradgiclly alot of the young children will be trurmatized for years to come if not helped to express their emotion it is delicate when children are involved and they need to be able to express in their own way even if that means us adults need to just let certian behaviours slip but without allowing bad habbits to be allowed i find with the really young drawings and paintings about what they felt is a good start with older children writtings and music is their main way of copeing so it pays to keep an ear out at the words in the music they are playing and seeing if it is a big veriation as to what they may normally listen to all children have been afected by these fires either inavertivlly or not they need to be incoraged to open up and express their angziaty in all diffrent ways it is important that even the smallest words be heard and encoraged for these children to heal many schools are involving the kids to partake in fundrasing even things like cooking and donating items just to help them feel like they are able to make a diffrence this is very good and i comend their understanding of the childs mind and the feeling that they have given to others helps them as much as it does us adults i have seen small children aged 3 and up to five giving the most strangest things for afected people but if it helps them heal does not matter what it is they must be allowed to give it the biggest lesson alot of people young and old are learning is that life is unreplacable and almost everything else is .
  11. sorry to hear you missed out on the home you wanted good luck in your house hunt
  12. alot of horses and cattle have to be put to sleep due to the blood in feet hooves boiling and killing the hooves very sad and very distressing to see these animals that look okay but relisticlly are just unable to be helped and have to be distroyed so much pain for all invoved
  13. do you have picture of head spoted pied rip you talking about a spangle with the spot like a dom pie spot not just the two feathers representing the rec gene being precent yeah ? i need two see what the head spot pie looks like
  14. There is obviously the recessive grey gene involved here and also another strain of budgie NOT solely bush budgies Not quite....I posted it to show that over hundreds of real bush budgies there is none there that look greygreen man thats **** loads of budgies in one shed is that a good thing kaz i know their flock birds but isnt that wrong or that amount okay they did look healthy enough (i refure to you picture)
  15. did you get them vet cheaked to find this out ? also daddy long legs are the only spider that kill the white tail spider and its not that their mouth is to small to bit us its that our skin is to hard for them to penatrate and they brake their fangs if you have this beak and feather thing will you need to get all birds tested whats the procedure involved ?
  16. old birds as in established breeding pairs or just older stock in general ? i had a simular thought about breeding my older birds before its to late to get any good rezults i got a few about a dozzen 3 and 4 year olds i have never breed with that same old waiting for the right bird for them story so i decided just pair what i have the once off and see what i get i relize you would probly have a plan though not like me who only kind of does after all im about colour your about show birds so need to be more selective im guessing

i dont even know whats going on here i like read from the bit about ratings and i didnt know about them but i read y and its a name of a movie so im guessing and this is totally blind as i dont even know whats this game about but yental...you know babra strisands movie do i win lol if im right i so dont desirve the five stars for what ever but i will feel smart for once lol woops way off t now lol oh well have fun guys i will just say ......tootsie
  18. yes your hen the chick is huge i called it sachie (short for big foot) out of five eggs one hatched he is just too big for her but thought i would try one better then none so if the chick has chicks to a blue bird i should only get blue is this so .. i was told that but still second opinion would be nice oh and if this is wrong ...then chick and cock both go ...he my first grey green breeding only ever had blue base stock dont want greens but thought grey greens would strenthen the violets and mauves mabe i anm wrong most probbly am my memorie is so bad lol
  19. if she pairs them she will get all dom pies 50 percent the cock is split rec so she could get black eye yellow or blues (white bird)sorry im old school terms lol and your odd rececive pie as for the yf thing i breed yf by the dozzen if you want all yf then get a sky or cobalt harliquin..par blue .. yf2 sky blue rec pied what ever you want to call it and pair it with a sky violet spangle hen and you will get all yf2 and mabe one or two white face chicks then pair a normal cobalt par blue cock from this pairing to a yf 2 bird and you will get all yellow face two chicks i could go on to say that if you pair a yf2 df sky or cobalt dom , with a cobalt yf2 norm /cin /opaline you will get all yf2 birds and all hens will be cin and opaline and make beautiful chicks and adult birds the pair you have their will give a simular rezult with beautiful chicks i dont know about the genetics side but you will get 50 50 yf and white face but i no expert this info all from hands on but out of many chicks i always get 50 50 yellow face or sometimes more with this pairing i stated i always pair my yf2 sky and cobalt, violet pied cocks, with normal cobalt parblues from spangle cin opaline hens to sky violet spangle hens either opaline or cin or both chicks always beautiful with many veriations of colours and mutations
  20. thats good im not sure how that works really but are you saying any bird i have that is either blue , violet, mauve or grey will never through green birds ? i am not sure what to say i thought that they could if the cock or hen was split green ? do you understand what im saying im not sure i do but i have a cobalt 1 factour violet spangle hen and paired her to what i thought was a dark grey green spangle and they have produced a what apears to be a normal dark green bird no mutation so.... got me this him him and her baby few days about 4 days baby is two weeks now so much bigger than this picture taken at one week i will post pics when can of it now not at home at moment (why i can actually be on the com , lol )

hi mate hope you learn what your wanting have fun here
  22. i was going to say look under wings as if she is type 2 she will have blue along top edge of under wings all way along and i say 9 to 12 at most so to be sure i wouldnt breed her for at least 4 to five i would wait 6 to be sure she looks to light green to be sky blue as the go a real lime green when fully matured not bright like that but under wings is a sure awnser
  23. kassy is that last one violet also or am i just seeing things ???????????????????? i think second hen but really i cant tell from picture to tell truth
  24. dont worry kaz i know thats possable but these chicks defenently unable to fly at time pics taken they can now well the first two any how still only small short flights still should be in nest for two week at least my cages in my aviry now so no chance of excapees was not home when these pics taken am now Beautiful flock and nice chicks.Where do you get all your colors from?these chicks were from a line i have started myself they are second generation chicks the bird i started with came from a show breeder out this way he was a one year old bird when i got him a sky blue holding violet genetics but not vissable to eye unless you really know your colours and their diffrences i dont know a lot when it comes to mutations but i know my colours and i go by cheek patches and tail colour when choosing my birds even if the breeder says something else i brought a true mauve hen for him and from their i breed my grey opaline cock he has very slate blue cheek patches and as his mother does holds the mauve gene and now from breeding him i found that as i was hopeing holds the ability to produe very blue grey birds normal greys viloets one factor and mauve and as placed with a one factor violet hen colbalt produces light medium and dark i still dont quiet know what i have but i know that the rezult i was after i achived so dont really care what their true mutation or coulors are just care that i still know how to produce what i want with out years of mucking around so am happy as this only my second year back breeding im quiet happy with my rezult and all i can say as to their colour is that they are not grey well one chick is defenently only grey as for the mauve hen her tail feather is deep purple turning to black at tip so ... i dont know she does have deep purple cheek patches and does hold the violet gene but is deep colbalt but visually violet to look at and dark grey what i call mauve i do understand that mauve is in a world of its own as is violet but i dont know how i managed to blend the two together i think it has to do with the blue grey with slate grey cheek patches and as these birds tend to hold grey but difrently to a grey with grey cheek patches and what i just relise and dont know why is one chick has black cheek patches and she is defenently going to be the same cobalt blue purpule gray mix my mauve hen from first clutch is so..... i have two hens and two cocks im happy thanks for coments i will post pics when im allowed on com for longer as have to upload them my colours come from the way i mix my genetic backgrounds and although i know what to put to get what i want i couldnt tell you what they were as i only go by memorie of sight of colours i learnt years ago not memorie of genetics or mutations as such so sorry but i will work it out with all your help one day for now as long as im breeding what i want and with out a lot of breeding to get their im all good and will only get better rezults as my own genetics move in to place
