Thankyou all very much i dont think the chick had been fed at all it took a very long time to get fully out of egg all day and night it looked all normal it even had little feathers on it i just dont understand what went wrong it look so strong and then bang she keep it so close to her and sat on it to keep it warm but i dont know if she didnt know how to feed it or if she knew something was wrong with it im not sure but it did look like its bottom or tummy popped it was like it messed it self a bit and the tummy was all just floppy skin the other egg hasnt hatched at all so i have still left it with her but how long do i have to leave it with her before i can take the nest box out fully i want to set it up better this time and when do you let them try again thankyou

well im so upset my little baby budgie died this afternoon i took it out of the nest and had a good look at it the little tummy was all orange colour and near it bottom a bit brown everything else looked normal and it was sounding healthy i check the other egg and it looks clear i think it stopped developing because it did have red veins like the other one at 6 days should i take the egg out aswell or leave it there for a while longer for her as i just took her baby off her i feel so sorry for her she is so protective i took me 10 mins to get her off the dead baby and other egg just before.

baby budgie is all the way out of shell but looks very tired and mum hasnt fed it as yet how long do i wait for her to fed before i worry thankyou by the way i didnt think they were that tiny when born they all looked bigger in your photos of new borns there ugly but cute

hi thankyou very much everyone i just wanted to know how long does it take for the baby budgie to break open the egg fully as it still only has its beak out and chriping still my dad said he checked them and saw it was like this since 6 pm tonight but it sounds very healthy and alive is this still all normal and fine

hi thankyou i will that will be great im just about check my budgies and the eggs ive been out all day today just got home but nothing this morning. well i just check and YES my first ever baby budgie its chirping alot for a new little one but its not fully out of the shell yet almost mum is very protective wont let dad in to see she keeps chasing him out he just wants to look i think she is going to be a very good mum when i went to have a closer look she jump onto it and wouldnt get off the other egg is due tomorrow

hi my two eggs are due this sunday and monday to hatch i check her this morning and one egg looks white but the othe one looks a bit darker in colour is this okay or not thankyou

she has been sitting on them for six days today I moved it so i can check them better now but after these eggs i would love to change it so if you wouldn't mind helping ill post some pictures of the cage to get ideas how to change it for later seasons thankyou ill get some pictures on soon thankyou again

okay i got the nest box out of the cage almost lost my hen but everything is okay i checked the egg they both have veins in the eggs but one has a big air pocket and the other a small air pocket does it mean they are all good both very warm and i put the nest back in she went straight back in and sat on them wasnt happy with me but she is okay

i would love to do that but i wasnt thinking they would breed since they never have before and the nest box is in the cage with the door to the back of the cage so im just looking through the hole at her so i cant get to the door unless i move the nest box

yes she is inexperienced hen this is her first time laying but she is very protective of the two eggs she is laying on i guess i just do what you said but if i do wont she because stressed out when i take the two off her

well i was outside doing washing and i saw my hen sitting up on the top perch and i saw an egg coming out she just wiggled her tail and the egg dropped to the ground and then she flew back into her nest . so do you think she only want two eggs and no more because there is no other reason to why she keeps doing this she should have five eggs in her nest but she only has done two in there i was going to put it in her nest for her but it had a really big crack and the yolk was already coming out of the egg i just cant understand why she was fine for two and not the rest any ideas would be great

PLEASE HELP ME i just went to cover my birds like everynight and there is another egg in the same place as this morning i pick it up slowly and it to was cracked and stuck to the news paper it looks the same as this morning she has layed it from the perch is this were she will lay every egg now how come she was able to lay two in one day is there something wrong with her or can budgies do that

thats what i have done and she has just gone back in her box so all is good she really wasnt going to go back in there with it in there

i have pulled it out and done what you said already as she was going to the box and trying to pull it out her self getting very upset so i just did it i was just about to ask if this was okay but you had said to do it anyway ive never seen her like this before she is really funny today do you think it could be because of the egg she layed off the perch and cracked i took it out this morning but she didnt see me take it only him

well, i put it in and she went nuts and so did he. She came out of the nest box and flew at me so when she went up on the perch. I put it in and left her alone to go back in i hope she does. thank you now i dont have to worry about her going hungry

i have heaps of that i always give them some i just had a dumb moment i didnt realise what it was called until i saw the photo so i can just put that in the nest box is that right

You need to watch and se sure. BUT you can also put millet sprays in her nestbox. sorry but were do you buy millet spray ive never bought it

hi again i just went outside and she was out of the nest and she still does have the two eggs and she was eating at the food bowel like she hasnt been fed for a week and then she quickly went back in when she saw me so i think she was eating when she layed the egg on the perch anyway does this mean the male isnt feeding enough and when she was eating he was always at her what should i do
