Danish Pied And A Violet?
Sorry I haven't got back to you yet. Yes the brown bits on the Hens cere are flaking a little. How do you get her into condition? I have added a few drops of avian vitamins into their water.. Is there anything else I can do for them other than their fruit and vegies? I will try and get a picture asap. I am in Perth at the moment and the Birds are in Wagin (3 hours away)

Danish Pied And A Violet?
Okay, I have a picture of Harry's iris rings.. geez he's hard to get a good picture hehe. In the end. I had to let him bite my thumb so my Husband could get a picture of him hehe. Lucky he doesn't bite hard. I used the flash too, so his Iris would have dialated a little aswell. What I've noticed lately aswell, is that, Sparkle (the Violet) will let Harry on top of her and other times, she gets rather nippy toward him. If he comes close to her, she will go to bite him, is this her playing hard to get or her just being nasty?

Danish Pied And A Violet?
Ah yep, I understand now, thanks Nubbly Harry is very hard to get a decent picture of, I was home alone Yesterday so I couldn't get anyone to hold him for me. Anyways, I got a couple more which are probably better. And yes, he has always had iris rings since he was fresh out the nest. And:

Danish Pied And A Violet?
WOW!! Thanks for the info Nubbly! But errr.. What does "split" mean? And Nerwen, Yes he does have a blue cere, does that mean I have a recessive Pied.. How do you tell the difference between a Danish and a recessive peid? If it is a Danish Pied then why is he/she mounting the Violet? Oh dear.. I'm confused!! lol.

R.i.p. Lambchop
Thanks all I'm just so glad he passed away peacefully. My Mother in law said it's hard to describe but it was like he was holding on until he could be with someone when he passed... I keep thinking of all the little things he would do.. Like give a little squeek when I would give him scratches, or when he was on the ground I would put my hand in front of him and he would hop straight on without any reservations Bless...

R.i.p. Lambchop
A couple of days ago, Lambchop all of a sudden wouldn't eat and you could tell he wasn't happy. He had problems getting around his Mansion aswell. I don't know what made him turn all of a sudden, one day he seemed happy and healthy, the next... Gone. I wasn't there when he passed, but my Mother-In-Law (who used to breed Budgies too) was nursing him when he passed. She said she was talking to him, and keeping him warm when he went peacefully. Looking back now, I honestly think he was well too interbred as he forever had breathing problems, his feet weren't quite right and he wasn't as perky as most Budgies are. That will be the first and last Budgie I will buy from a petshop. Goodbye my sweet little Boy... I will always have a place in my heart for you.

Clearing Throat?

These Are The New Babies
The yellow one whose name is either Harry or Harriet depending on the sex, was bought just before Christmas as a companion for Lambchop. Alas Lambchop wanted nothing to do with the new comer and became very bitey and just didn't seem as chirpy or happy as she used to be. So she was given to my Mother In-Law as she loves Budiges too. I believe Harry/Harriet is a Danish Pied? I have a suspicion that Harry/Harriet is a Female as she is very much a screamer when you try to handle her (which is everyday) and is really hard to tame. The other new Budgie's name is Sparkle Berry Swirl lol. I bought it from a Breeder for my little Sister In-Law to tame (She's only 7 hence the name lol ). She had a Budgie but somehow it got out and became Hawk food. She was most upset!! She wanted a Purple one and this one was the only one I could find in time for Christmas. This one is very easy to tame and will sit on your finger with no issue's at all! Are they Boys or Girls too? Sorry about the quality of the pictures, my normal point and shoot Camera decided to die on me so all I had was the Camera on the Phone. Pics:

I've Fallen In Love All Over Again!
Ahhh okay, had me worried there for a minute . Thought I was doing something wrong. I thought she was enjoying it, so much so, that it put her to sleep. Yeah, she has been doing it for quite some time now, I read from some places that it dosen't mean anything except for that they have been sitting in the same spot for some time and are simply "stretching". I have read in other places that it is their way of saying hello. So who knows? Different people different opinions I spose. I like to think she's happy to see me I didn't know birds could love their owners, until I came across this forum, it's a wealth of information and have learnt so much! It really is wonderful to have an animal love you, not just a Budgie but any animal really.

I've Fallen In Love All Over Again!
I'm sorry, but what behaviour is signs of her being *****? lol. I'm confused. Should I not have stroked her beak like I did?

I've Fallen In Love All Over Again!
 I'll keep that in mind. I'm over the moon that she trusts me! Another thing... Everytime I walk into the room where she is, as soon as she sees me, she stretches her wings out. Is that some sort of Budgie body language or just coincidence?

I've Fallen In Love All Over Again!
I was having a lay down just now to ease my headache. Clinton brought in Lambchop to say hello. I was giving her scratches etc and she was loving it. All of a sudden she started making these little squeeking noises. What does that mean? lol does that mean she likes it? Anyway, I started stroking her beak and she was closing her eyes so I figured she was loving it, so I kept going, before I knew it, she was having a nap and leaning her head against my hand. It was so sweet! She must've stayed there like that for a good 15 mins Is nibbling on your fingers and fingernails a good thing aswell?

Budgies And Lorikeets?
I quite often let Lambchop and Olive (Lorikeet) out at the same time under very close supervision. Olive is actually scared of Lambchop hehe, Lambchop wants to go up and say hello and Olive just runs away and wants to climb all over you. At the moment seeing as it's getting warmer during the day, I leave them to hang outside out the front of the Kitchen window. Olive has started making the same noises as Lambchop does as well as her coughing, sneezing, kisses and laughing But yeah, I too wouldn't recommend putting Lorikeets and Budgies together unsupervised in the same cage.

Budgie Tunes! Does Your Budgie React To Certain Songs?
Lambchop, loves anything... and I mean ANYTHING!! If either Clinton or I watch a video on Youtube she will go off her tree! Same deal with music or movies It's really funny. When I first noticed it, I was playing some music while Clinton was out and she was chattering away and carrying on, I paused it to hear her "singing" (I love the sounds they make hehe) she stopped singing. I started the music up again and away she went again. This went on a few more times before I left it on for her and I to enjoy

A Lot Of Questions
No probs about the update I'm sorry for the amount of questions, I'm just very keen to learn! I am so glad I found this forum! Is it normal for a Budgie to be giving off a lot of heat? When she's sitting on my finger, I can feel an incredible amount of heat coming off her. Her feathers have also changed colour! She used to be a striking green! Almost fluro like! Now, just at the base of her tail, she is blue. Same thing as under her wings and other random places. Is that normal? Also, from this picture, can anyone tell me whats wrong with her feathers? They have only just come up in the last week or so. Also, her feathers just above her cere are all dirty and sticking up all over the place. Do I need to take her to the vet?
